He's just not who I want to see, after letting Reynold's walk. I'd rather have Davis at 1B, and go get another DH or LF.

I'm not the biggest LaRoche fan, but what would stop us from going after a LF?

LaRoche is a decent bet to be an upgrade over Reynolds for the next couple of years. He just won the Gold Glove and his offense is a little more dependable. He's older than Reynolds but Reynolds already has old man skills. If LaRoche will take 3/33 I'd do that. No more than 3 years, though.

There are some in the industry that feel it wasn't over money why the O's cut ties with Reynolds, it was to upgrade the 1B position.

Boston was apparently looking at him for 1B before signing Napoli.

I think he still ends up back in Washington.

Or moving Davis to LF and pursuing another DH, such as Butler. I'm not a huge LaRoche guy either, but putting him at first with either of these two scenarious seems to me to be a net improvement for the team.

I'd be okay if it was 1-2 year deal. Not sure he is the best option.

Was just about to post the same thing. Hard to be disappointed if that's what plays out (signing LaRoche and trading for Butler).

It will be interesting to see what Duquette considers "middle of the order" bat. Sure, LaRoche could be slotted around 5th and be alright, but he's not the type of player we're all likely thinking about.

Agreed. But if it's combined with a trade for Butler (hypothetically, of course), that would certainly bolster the MOO a bit.
