The Braves' 5th consecutive win tonight, coupled with the Nationals' loss to the Tigers gives them a 10-game lead in their division, the largest in all of baseball.

And once again, the Braves have won 11 of 12... including their last 11 in a row. Justin Upton homered off of Tyler Clippard after Strasburg and Minor battled evenly. The Braves' bullpen once again leads the NL in probably every good stat - even though it's changed personnnel since last year except for one guy named Kimbrel. And notice the Braves didn't play Kimbrel in a 3-2 game. They realize the importance of not over-working him. If he stays healthy year after year... jeebus, his lifetime stats are ridiculous already at age 25.

Frank Wren has developed into a very good GM - even though he does make occasional terrible decisions - such as signing BJ Upton to a huge contract - and even though he has made comments to the effect that he does not value OBP as much as others. One thing he does know how to do is put together a bullpen.

Just saw this! Was looking at scores to see what BOS and anyone else did. Saw poor Washington got beat by them tonight. Looked at the standing and couldn't believe the lead they have! Cruising through the season.

The Braves just swept the Nationals in Washington.

Before that, they swept the Phillies in Philadelphia.

They have won 13 consecutive games overall, and have a 15 and-a-half game lead in their division.

And at 70-45, they and the Pirates (69-44) have the best record in the major leagues.
