Wondering--If Manny had fielded a ball while he was shifted into RF against Pierzynski, how would it be scored? He can't still be considered the third baseman, can he?

Fangraphs dealt with this early last year and changed their formulas. In the first month, Brett Lawrie was putting up the greatest defensive month any player had ever had in any season... and by a wide margin. Fangraphs looked into why and found that Lawrie was playing RF on defensive shifts and the zone portions of the formulas were way out of proportion. Since then, Fangraphs made some formula changes that seem to correct the issue.

Id LIKE ANOTHER LOOOOOONG at bats inning..preferably with some runs...Lets get this kid's pitch count up....no first pitch swings for outs...

Yes, that's it. Only swing at pitches you can get hits off of. It's easy, why hasn't anybody else thought of it?

So essentially he was credited with making an impossible play? Or am I misunderstanding you?
