vs. Tigers 7/19

If it's not a spot for a specialist.. then don't pitch the most specialized pitcher in your bullpen. There's a decent chance he may struggle, throw lots of pitches, and then tomorrow when you need him to be special in his special role, he's not available.

Can't disagree more. First off We don't play tomorrow. Perfect spot for him. For one he needed to pitch. Why waste a better reliever in a spot like that? Let's him work vs righties in a less pressurized spot.

I'm pretty sure they won't need him tomorrow. :)

Two lefties and a seven run lead. Asking him to get through an inning is the right thing to do.

Yeah he'll be good to go tomorrow, just throwing out a hypothetical. I'd rather give those garbage innings to Tommy, personally.

You're right he will be available tomorrow. He did an okay job today. But I don't like to see him in that situation.

I don't either... but his numbers really aren't as bad as people make out on here. Even me. I can't wait till he's gone.

I'd have pitched Tommy. Does he not need to pitch? I have a hard time saying that Matusz is any worse of a pitcher than Tommy at this point. He should be the garbage man, imo.

That would be the Managers fault, not the pitchers fault, right? If you know a guy can't get RHB out and you keep allowing him to pitch to them, well, it's hard to blame the pitcher.

Let me ask you this, if Matusz was brought in to start the inning because there were two lefties and Ausmus countered with a righty, should Buck burn him or let him pitch?

meh.. it's not what it once was. He's certainly not a base-stealer.

And what good does his speed do you when he doesn't really get on base much to begin with?

.323 career OBP. His speed is a big part of that. And his eye at the plate.

DOD! Just WIN baby!!!!
