From 1969 to 1984 the Orioles starters lead in the AL in ERA 8 times. They finished in 2nd twice, 3rd twice, 4th twice once in 5th and 6th.

Starting in 1985 things changed.

85 10th

86 11th

87 13th

88 14th

89 9th

90 10th

91 14th

The Orioles moved to Camden Yards in 1992

92 8th

93 8th

94 5th

95 2nd

96 9th

97 3rd

98 8th

99 3rd

From 2000 to 2005 the starters ranked 9th in 2001, 2002, and 2005. They ranked 10th in 2000 and in 03 and 04.

Starting in 2006 things got even worse

2006 13th

2007 10th

2008 13th

2009 14th

2010 13th

2011 14th

Then the last 4 seasons

2012 9th

2013 12th

2014 5th

2015 13th

I know this is not factoring in ballparks and competition like ERA+ does. Still from 1985 through 2015 in the those 31 seasons Orioles starters finished in the top 5 in starting pitching ERA only 5 times. They finished 10th or worse 17 times.

From 1969-1993 only 2 teams out of 52 made postseason ranking 10th or worse in starting pitching ERA. The 1981 Brewers ranked 13th-split season year- and the 1993 Blue Jays ranked 10th. From 1994-2011 when the division went from 2 to 3 and a wild card added only 6 of 72 teams qualified for postseason. Texas in 94-12th, and in 98-14th and 99-13th. Indians in 2001 ranked 13th, 2009 Twins 12th and 2010 Yankees 10th. I included 1994 season.

In 2015 the Royals rank 12th, Texas 10th with NYY 9th. From 2012-2014 only the Tigers in 2014 made the playoffs ranking 10th.

I know this isn't a perfect breakdown and starting pitching due to in part increased playoff spots it isn't as important as years ago but the numbers are still pretty telling.
