The process was correct. That is true even if he accepts.

if he accepts and the value of the supp pick is 10 m then we get him for 5.8m and pay for the pick next year instead assuming he has a good year to warrant a QO vs getting nothing.

Nats announce Fister and Span will not receive qualifying offers. O's should take a good look at Span.

Does the fact that no one will know anything about this speed oriented player recovering from core surgery impact his value? He may not be available until All Star break like Wieters. And then his speed may be only average.
