The FA system is hurting everyone? Does he want to back to being an indentured servant?

I don't begrudge any player's contract, they get whatever they can, it's fine. But when you sign a $20M contract that's many multiples of what most people will earn in a lifetime of work and your response is that the system that produced that "is hurting everyone" I totally understand why the perception of athletes is often so poor.

Or just take the 16 million for one year. Or maybe consider signing a LT deal with the club you're with to minimize the risk of getting shut out on the open market.

It will be interesting to see how the union handles this in the negotiation. I personally think it has brought Boston and New York back to the pack some.

I think the Players Association is rethinking the QO rules, it does help some players, its also showing that it can hurt some players.

Of course it hurts players relative to no QO, that's part of the deal. It's supposed to. The idea of free agent compensation is to keep some players from going out on the open market, switching teams, making bigger money. And blah blah competitive balance blah blah.

It doesn't hurt the big ticket players like Heyward or Greinke etc. It kills guys like Fowler and Kendrick.
