HR total this year for each Oriole in the projected starting lineup

It sounds great until we project how many homeruns we'll give up.

I'm pretty sure we will outhomer our opponents. Whether we will outscore them is another matter.

For what it's worth, here is our homer tally vs. our oppoents in recent years:

2015: 217 to 174

2014: 211 to 151

2013: 212 to 202

2012: 214 to 184

2011: 191 to 210

I think we certainly have a good shot to top 217 this year. In fact, I'd be pretty bummed out if we didn't.

How I see the Orioles power turning out. Around 250 HR total give or take a few.

Chris Davis - 48

Manny Machado - 36

Mark Trumbo - 31

Adam Jones - 29

Matt Wieters - 27

Jonathan Schoop - 27

Pedro Alvarez - 23

J.J Hardy - 16

Hyun-Soo Kim - 11

All amounting to about 275 runs based on failure to increase OBP in the offseason... This team may set a record for solo home runs in a season! (Anyone know what that number is???)

Damn, that's good research. I made a pathetic little google effort and couldn't track anything down. I bet this team goes 150+ solo shots...

Well Toronto has the most solo HRs from 2010-2015 and they're supposed to be better at getting men on base. The more HRs you hit, the higher potential you have for solo HRs.

I'd probably be happy if they did. The Seattle team that set the all time HR record of 264 hit 152 solo shots (57.5% of their homers). Last year's Orioles hit 217 homers, of which 127 were solos (58.5%). If we hit an extra 23+ solo shots, we're probably also hitting another 16+ extra homers with runners on base.

I put mine in bold. I have six guys with 25 plus homeruns, still a lot more conservative than the OP's predictions.

Wouldn't be the worst thing. Our bench would get us over 200 pretty easily. Probably in the 210-220 range like we've been. I think we will hit somewhere between 220 and 230 homeruns this year. My predictions for the lineup stipulated in the OP did not account for injuries.

We're gunning for 162. One a game. At 58% of all HRs, our season total will need to be around 280. Meaning 118 multi-run homers. If I can find a somewhat credible statistical spread on how many HRs are 2-run, 3-run and 4-run shots, we might be able to crib together some sort of record-breaking offensive devastation figure for Total # of Runs Scored by HR.

Maybe this is the FO plan - hit the snot so totally out of the ball that no one notices our anemic pitching and curious RF defense....:2yay-thumb:

That gives us 248. Add in Joseph, Reimold, and the rest of the bench and it's easy to see the 264 record going. Hey, I'll take; although, I think we will be a bit less overall, but not by much of you're said.

Do anyone really see Manny only hitting 23 with the progress he made last year? Hard to see Wieters with only 12 if he plays all year. I could see 21 for Trumbo on the Mariners, just hard to imagine that kind of light tower power only hitting 21 in Camden though. Schoop is on the low side, but 16 is possible.

I would put money down that we get at least 225 from our starting 9.
