vs. BLUE JAYS, 7/30

OFFNY

Recommended Posts

The Orioles are due for a big inning in one of these games Schoop has been slumping bad.

It feels like the offense is due but they just can't get it going.. Feels like last year's 2nd half offense.

Anyone else with tears in their eyes? God durn this is painful to watch. Its been enough when your personal life is going down the toilet but then your beloved Os are playing like absolute garbage and falling completely apart too? ugh :(

It is just baseball. More important to get personal life together.

The Orioles will be .5 games out of 1st if they lose this game. They should be looking to deal Machado, Jones, Tillman, Brach, Trumbo and Britton. They should be able to aquire a ton of talent out of those guys. Maybe 2 or 3 will actually help the team one day.

Poorly managed inning. Even the announcers know YG is good for 5 innings. Why not have MG ready after walk #2. Then load the bases so now he has no room for error... SMH

Agree but Givens was awful so not sure it would have mattered.

You are kidding, right? I'm as frustrated as anyone, but you still can't give up on this team even for this season. Most of who you mentioned are under contract thru next season at least.

Is this a joke or just frustration?

The year to trade was last year. DD isn't trading anyone. Man, Davis looks awful. That contract will hurt.

Nah. The BP is awesome. So good we can trade Brach or Britton and never miss a beat.

I've said for the last month that the bullpen is trash outside of the top three relievers (DOD, Brach, Britton). I actually think Wilson's by far the best fourth best reliever on this team right now. I would trust him to extinguish a team's rally and keep the game close far more than Givens or Despaigne.

Lol yeah Buck should of had guy up earlier in the 5th after Yvoni was cruising the last three innings. He got him up after Donaldson it takes the guy some time toget ready.

It seemed like pulling Gallardo when he did was a great move. In retrospect it is HIGHLY unlikely toronto would have 7 runs if Gallardo stayed in. Buck has to be thinking " damned if I do, damned if I dont."

Yeah, this is not Buck's fault. Givens needs to go down to AAA and learn how to pitch.

Was hoping the first sentence of my comment would show the sarcasm.

They have one of the best ERA's in the sport with a staff this soaks up no innings and isn't very good.

    • It's gracious of you to admit it's a matter of personal bias. In just his first of two seasons with the Orioles, Belle provided a lot more offense (37 homers, 117 RBIs, 143 OPS+)  than several of the players you did list combined in their entire Orioles careers, e.g. Clark + Carter + Thome--all of whom, moreover, were much further along "a downward trajectory from age." Belle's first season with the Orioles was basically equivalent to the popular and listed Nelson Cruz's single season (40 HR, 108 RBI, 137 OPS+). I also disagree that Angelos and the Orioles' front office should have known that Belle's days as a feared slugger were over: he had played 143, 158, 161, and 163 games leading into his age 32-years-old 1999 season with the O's. The HR totals during those seasons with the Indians and White Sox were 50, 48, 30, and 49. He played in 161 and 143 games with the Orioles in 1999 and 2000. The degenerative hip condition that ended his career was not diagnosed until the spring of 2021, a half year after his second season with the Orioles. The sight of Belle in spring training nonetheless trying his hardest to run down the first base line on essentially one leg left no doubt in my mind that, as he had expressed to the media, he was absolutely dedicated to honoring the generous contract Angelos had bestowed. He had to be ordered to give up trying to play.
    • Then Who goes to the Pen?
    • Kimbrel was good, no doubt, But I'm with Irvin. Who could have possibly seen the last 4 starts coming? tonight was more of the same, Hope he keeps it up.
    • I think it was the 1997 team that had Mussina, Erickson, Key...   Could be this staff is the best since the 80s but we'll have to wait and see.  I'm not ready to say it's close to better than the dynasty staffs of the 60s through the early 80s.  Those teams didn't just have good individual years but many years strung together.  That's what the O's haven't had in so long and need to get back to.
    • I left him off the list because of personal bias. I always though Albert Belle was over rated, and at the point in time when Angelos signed him, I thought it was pretty clear that his career was on a downward trajectory from age.  Essentially, I thought it was a big waste of money and from that personal bias, I didn't feel it was worth listing because it has Ubaldo Jimenez and Chris Davis contract type of mistake vibes.
    • It was a bad trade not because Tobias Myers became great, at least not yet, but the Rays traded Myers for Caminero who was the #2 prospect at one point last year.
