Apologies in advance if this seems like a rant or a knee jerk reaction.

Will anyone be held accountable for a team constructed in this manner? There is a reason why the Red Sox are surging and the o's are whimpering to the finish line. We have a lineup of one dimensional hitters (homers and k's) and mediocre starting pitching.

I ask as we in Baltimore no longer have a media to hold the front offices feet to the fire on the bad decisions that got to this point. I'm sure no heads will roll as we will likely finish above 500 and seemingly that's all that matters anymore after almost 15 straight losing seasons. But Duquette is a GM who still manages as though it's 1995.

The players cannot be blamed. This lineup has been exactly as it was drawn up and for the most part they have played exceptional.

Maybe it's just the sting of watching a team for 5 months only to collapse in month 6. No fans should have to suffer this way.

What exactly would you like to see done to hold someone accountable? And shouldn't we see how the season finishes before worrying about it?

And by the way, even though it would be excruciatingly painful if we end up missing the playoffs, I'd take this season over any of the 1998-2011 seasons any day.

Of course. I don't think anyone is feeing particularly inspired at this moment. The question is if they collapse is Duquette secure?

It is hard and or expensive to find the high OBP players that would change this lineup. Kim helped. I don't think Dan is going anywhere.

After tonight, the O's are 10-9 in September. Not what's needed or hoped for, but hardly a collapse.

There's much to criticize Duquette for this year, but Wieters and Davis on the team may be two thing you can't lay at his feet. Kim's lack of consistent playing time either. Duquette is secure until his contract is up. After that he'll be on the first plane out of town.

This way of thinking is getting old. So what, we're not as bad as we were from 98-2011. I would like to won another championship. If this team doesn't make the playoffs, it will be VERY disappointing.

Doubtful. It would be great if we had Arrieta. Otherwise DD has done pretty well under the constraints set by ownership. When you are instructed to sign CD for $150M, you don't have many options. You bring in guys like Trumbo and Alvarez and hope that KG can be an ace. It almost worked.

Duquette has done well with position players, starting pitching not so much. At this point, Duquette should do the opposite when it involves moves with starting pitching.

I'm sorry, but just being better than the dark days isn't good enough. They had a good young core, and wasted it. The dark days will be back soon.

If Potter wants to spend that money on Davis, fine, he is the owner. But Potter didn't make Duquette sign Gallardo or trade Davies for Parra or trade for Miley or sign Ubaldo. This GM started the season counting on winning a division with two out of five starting pitchers being Mike Wright and Tyler Wilson. And he jettisoned one of his only veteran starting pitchers who still had an option and who has thrown 10/11 quality starts for the White Sox. Hope is one thing but GMs get judged for their mistakes as well as successes. I wish he had gone to Toronto.

The old way of thinking is what kept baseball alive and well in Baltimore . This new way of thinking will get old fans to stop following and surely get team to relocate.
