Live MLBtv Today - Difference between the Jays 1st team and the Twins 2nd team?

This morning Gabriel Ynoa is being lauded for limiting the Twins subs to one hit over five innings.  It is a welcome accomplishment but it beg the question of how hard that was compared to what Jayson Aquino faces today.   He will probably face the Jays first team in Dunedin.

It all seems kind of unfair to me.  Aquino, who has pitch very well this spring,  has pitched 2 innings in the last 8 days, as far as I can tell.  Now he is given a  chance vs a very tough opposite.   It will be hard for him to match Ynoa's success yesterday.

I have  no dog is this fight and I am just wanting to see the O's find a 5th starter that can help them through April.  But I can't help but see the difference in the competition.  And its huge.

I'm sure the decision makers are aware of the discrepancy.

I wish Bundy wasn't facing AA teams.

But Buck likes to hide his guys.

Yes, and Buck's trying hard to identify his 5th starter.    It'll be interesting to see if Bundy pitches against a major league team in his final tune-up.    I believe it's Aquino, Wilson and Miley the next three days.

Exactly what I said to Frobby last night when he said Ynoa had it locked up.

Minn dropped a pop up! Not exactly the Murderer's Row Yankees.

Ynoa pitched well, but let's slow the roll. I still believe we need help from outside the org.

On the other hand, Ynoa can't control who he pitches against. His job was to get outs and he did. Why should his performance be downplayed because of who it was against? Just like if Aquino gets bombed by a loaded TOR team. Shouldn't mean he's a bad pitcher.

If he's making good pitches and they're still hitting the ball hard, I don't think the end results will matter all that much.

MASN ST coverage is a joke. I wasn't talking about just this game. That's why I mentioned MLB network.

Weams doesn't think the O's should televise road spring training games until all the other teams do.

Can't be ahead of the curve with the likes of the Dodgers, Cubs and Red Sox.

Maybe MASN has seen the kinds of lineups Buck usually uses for road games and figured, "Eh, no thanks."

    • Funny thing is, if the O's win, I'm generally so psyched on my way out that I don't even notice all of these annoyances. I'm just happy that the team won. That was my experience a lot this year when the team was doing well. Unfortunately about half of my 13 game season ticket plan was in August and September, plus I got to watch one of the pathetic WC games. You can smooth over a fair bit of fan annoyance with winning, but at the end of the day, someone has to care about the little things and actually invest money to make them better. There's no longer any question about whether the O's will be here to stay. The government and the team are aligned: OPACY and the Orioles are here, and we're going to make the best of what we have, and make it a centerpiece of Baltimore. That's great. But now they have to put their money where their mouths are. Show fans from all walks of life that we are able to reimagine OPACY and the surrounding area in the image of an efficient, clean, 21st century facility, starting with things as basic as infrastructure and plumbing, and ranging as far as parking, public trans, and food at the park. Honestly? I sort-of understood why they weren't investing in anything in the years when (1) the team was bad, and (2) ownership wasn't invested in the team, and (3) the renewal of the lease with the Maryland Stadium Authority was in doubt. The vast majority of points (1), (2) and (3) above are now non-issues, or have been majorly mitigated in the past 2 years. So it's time to make things right. Otherwise why bother with the long-term commitment at all, if you're just going to let the project languish?

    • I still think Soto (Juan, not any of the others) checks off all the boxes here.  Insanely productive, plays hard, can rub opponents the wrong way on the field but is generally liked off of it.
