The only person who knows the answer to this question is Duquette (if he's had discussions with Manny and Boras). It's certainly not you. If they don't think they can resign/extend him then trading him makes us a better team then settling for the draft pick compensation.

LOL. You are right, I don't know if we will re-sign him. I also don't know if the result of a trade would make our major league team better. You don't know that either.

Can we get a sticky that says that Manny isn't a Boras client?

This is the third day in a row I've seen posters think that he is.

The Orioles will never, ever trade Bob Feller.

You know there is a baseball player currently playing that goes by Boog Powell right?

Do you think it is a certainly that the O's will never have a player that goes by Bob Feller (not a rare name) under contract and that they will not possibly trade him?  Or trade for him if he is controlled by another team?  How many Dave Johnsons have the O's had?

i won't copy the article by Dan Szymborskihttp://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/story/_/id/20155566/mlb-trade-deadline-deal-all-30-teams,but  two fascinating if improbable trades:

1. Nationals get Brach and Jones; O's get SS Carter Kieboom, LHP McKenzie Mills, LHP Tyler Watson

2.Diamondbacks get Zach Britton; O's get LHP Anthony Banda, SS Domingo Leyba, LHP Alex Young

i don't know the players but i am sure there will be a lot of comments.

I didn't even look at the trade with the Nats since I think there is 0 chance we'd deal with them. It would be nice for a reporter to ask Duquette if he's allowed to trade with the.

I think the Britton trade is light and their best rated prospect is in low A.

Banda isnt a bad piece bud I'd rather have Clarke. Leyba was part of one of my trade proposals and I think ALex Young is a decent 4th player in the deal. For me it would take

Clarke, Leyba, Young, and Sherfy

But there are more Johnsons than Fellers. ?

I'd temper the expectations for a Britton trade.

I would take that deal from the diamondbacks or if the dodgers offered Stewart, Oaks, and Verdugo or Calhoun

Britton has high value but its not Chapman/Milller value anymore

I think the guy you have to get is Buehler! Stewart/Oaks/May are valuable 2-3 parts. I like Verdrugo but not at the expense of not getting Buehler. Calhoun is worthless to the Orioles unless they can flip him in a deal for somebody else. He wont stick in the infield, will probably stink in the COF, he's likely to get pudgier as he ages, and we have plenty of mediocre fielding COF/DH/1B types already.

Don't think you're getting Buehler with the way Britton has been pitching.

And yeah I'd flip Calhoun for an OF or another pitcher

If the Orioles got Verdugo I would turn around and see if you could spin Hayes and Sedlock for Gray.

The A's are going to get a lot more than that for Gray.  We'd be bidding against NYY and LAD - two of the best farm systems in baseball.

Why would we get Verdugo for Britton and the A's would only get Hays for Gray?  Gray is worth more than Britton.

    • I was listening to a Fox Sports Radio broadcast (sorry, can't remember who it was). They put the teams into tiers. The O's were in the top tier along with the Yankees, Dodgers and Phillies. I don't know how long it's been that during the season, someone would have called us top tier. And to think, this is happening with two of our starters out for the year and Bradish and Kremer have spent time on the IL. We are doing this with Hays, Mullins, Urias and Santander starting the season on an extreme slump. We have done this with Mateo starting almost every day (which most people thought would be a horrible thing). We have done this with a bullpen that has been very inconsistent. Imagine if we get some of this stuff fixed and some people back to just playing to their career averages.
    • I'm not sure what we are doing with Vieira. I figured the trade was about the prospect and they had to take him and his salary to make it happen. I expected him to be DFA right away and they would try to send him to the minors to work on him.
    • What would differentiate them?
    • Btw, in the 4 game series against the Jays last year (July 31-Aug. 3rd), it is insane that Mountcastle hit for an .846(!) avg with an OPS of 1.932!
    • Vieira doesn’t have options.
    • May 2024 This month, two non-prospects were obvious choices for MiL Plsyer and Pitcher of the Month: Player of the Month 28-year old Daniel Johnson led the org in SLG, OPS, HR (tie) and RBI.  He hit .350/.439/.725 with 6 HR and 23 RBI pm In the prospect division, I’m going with 19-year old Leandro Arias, .333/.400/.667 with 3 HR and 13 RBI in 16 games.   Honorable mentions to Ellis Cuevas at .992 OPS, Heston Kjerstad .964 with 14 RBI in 16 games after returning to the minors, and Stiven Acevedo at .953.   Pitcher of the Month In between stinking up the major leagues, 27-year old Jonathan Heasley pitched 16 scoreless innings with an 0.813 WHIP. In the prospect division, 21-year old Edgar Portes pitched to an 0.42 ERA in 20.2 innings, with an 0.919 WHIP and 11.8 K/9.   Honorable mentions: Eccel Correa 0.96 ERA in 18.2 IP, and Trey Gibson with a 1.76 ERA, 1.044 WHIP, and 15.3 K/9 in 15.1 IP.
