I thought Hellickson was supposed to be an innings eater. A guy who will give up a longball or two but give you length. An unspectacular 4 R, 7 IP performance wins easily tonight. But not for the first time, Jeremy turns into a batting practice pitcher after around 70 pitches. Is it possible that the extra rest is actually affecting him adversely?

He's grotesque. He needs hard hit balls to be smashed right at ppl like he got in Boston. This is who he is. He's no better than Tillman. The only option he has is luck. Toronto put out one of the worst lineups I've ever seen. Everyone in the AL, but us, got better the day we got Hellickson.

HA, just saw this.  So true.  I like him less than Ubaldo.

I was willing to give Hellickson the benefit of the doubt. He was pretty good as a Ray. I remember he used to own us at Tropicana Field.

It helped when he threw a couple solid ballgames for us. 7 innings, 2 ER against the Red Sox on 8/25... nice.

But he's thrown his fair share of stinkers as an Oriole, too. He's given us a ratio of bad to good games comparable to an Ubaldo or a (2017) Tillman. I think DD and the fans had slightly higher hopes for someone we went out and acquired from the market, than another player on par with bad-to-mediocre pitchers we have on the staff already.

I guess this is par for the course when you play roulette with veteran reclamation projects. And the funny thing is, as down as we are on him, he could run into a combination of really slumping opposing offenses or a few good weeks of above-average personal performance and give us 3 or 4 spectacular starts, and then we'd all be loving us some Hellickson again.

I don't think he's even been with the club long enough to merit any kind of hate tirade. Try letting him stay as long as Ubaldo has; if he's still the pitcher we see today, then maybe some hate would be justified.

For now, meh. He's alright. I'll continue to hold out for a sliver of hope that he's not as bad as he looks lately.

This would make me like dislike him even more because it would mean we'd re-sign him.  Hellickson hasn't been good in a long time, and even when he had a few good outings (only 2,) I disliked him.  Nothing personal, I just think he has no place on a major league team.
