Ynoa  had a  good 2nd half.   5-1, 2.87 ERA, 9 starts, .240 avg against, 1.05 WHIP.

He is probably a candidate for the rotation next spring.

He probably gives the O's a better chance to win right now then Tillman, Ubaldo or Hellickson.

He just pitched 2 scoreless innings vs the Yankees on the 4th.

There you go with all your logic and stuff. Plus Ynoa has pretty good stuff. Maybe he can give us three huge starts down the stretch. This is the type of crazy stuff we need to make a run.

I like ubaldo. Hope he gets hot.

But I'd like to see see he bullpen start a few games particularly the last week. We have an off day on sept 25 and 28 on the last week. That's crazy.

I'd like to see us use exclusively bullpen guys on 26th and 29th. Pen will be fresh. I'd start givens and hope he goes two. If we are tied it got the lead you keep the a team in . Only guys should start that week are bundy and Tillman if we are in it.

How the heck are we even around in the mix?  Our rotation right now is,

Bundy- out of gas?

Gausman

Miley

Hellickson

Ubaldo

Ynoa

Thats sick. Can't believe we're two over .500.

Bundy had the best start of any Oriole in the past decade the start before last.   One bad outing vs the Yankees means he's "out of gas".

Gausman had been very solid for 8 or 9 starts since the All Star break before yesterday.   So now he sucks because he had a crap start yesterday?

The rest...well yeah.

This.  Wonder if Castro is just not stretched out enough?  Can't remember how many pitches he threw in the 6 inning stint he had a few weeks ago, but don't recall him having anything longer than a 3 inning outing since.  Would so much prefer to see him get the start regardless.

I do think Bundy is sputtering, and that it's a good thing that Buck is not starting him until Wednesday, so he will have had 8 days of rest between starts.    It's unfortunate that we can't send our best starter out there every fifth day down the stretch, but I don't think he'd be our best starter if we tried to do that.

This is nuts. You start Bundy with 5 days rest. The season is on the line.

No.  Bundy is far too important for us long-term to push him in what is a loooong shot this year.  Look at the bigger picture.

I blame Dan Duquette. He traded away all our pitching prospects. Seem like every time he trades away a prospect for a 2 month rental that player it starting and winning games within a few months. So either our couching is trash or.... Its trash. I fell like our minor league pitching coaches would do better. I remember reading back when Davies was still here that his stuff wouldn't play up in the majors. And he's like 16-8 wins right now. Orioles scouting is just great.   Trade Chris "Crush No More" Davis and put Trey at 1st and leave Hays in the Majors. Get some prospects or a draft pick out of it. I never understood that signing. He does have good D but his bat isn't worth all that money. He is a strike out machine. Speaking of Draft picks Dan needs to stop selling our international signings. Dan just wants home run machines. We need people who can get one base.

My guess is that Castro is too valuable in the pen to put him in the rotation at the moment.  That is not to say Castro may not find himself in the rotation in the near future or next spring.

Well if you couch it in those terms....yes it's trash. ?

    • I honestly think there is very little difference in most the teams that made the playoffs.  The most wins was 98 wins and there was 12 teams with 86 wins or more.  It also seems that many of the teams are on the same page with scouting and analytics now hitting wise.  Years back you had moneyball which the A’s used before anyone else.  Then the Astros and few teams started with analytics and seemed to be ahead of the rest of the league but they have caught up now imo.  Now the move seems to be on launch angle and hitting homers by getting the ball in the air but that seems to be across the league.  Obviously some teams have more money and more talented players but the strategy seems about the same.  The main differences I see is in pitching in the playoffs which is bullpen games and using openers rather then a starter to go 7 innings and carry your team to win now a slight sign of trouble they are taking them out.  With all these short inning guys and pitching them in certain pockets we are seeing very little offense and the hitting with runners in scoring position has been awful.  It all comes down to RISP at bats and getting 1 or 2 big base hits in those situations.  We just haven’t been able to get those hits so far in short series.
    • And we've seen similar with Kjerstad. Kjerstad might be the best pure hitting prospect in the Orioles system of recent years besides Gunnar. I want to see him playing everyday next year is possible none of this sitting him versus LHP more often than not. These prospects need to get their reps and stop treating them like John Lowenstein and Benny Ayala.
    • I don’t see Elias trading off prospects anymore at least top guys.  We have moved a few guys in last year and I expect they try to build that back up.  They should have money to use if they want to add talent.
    • Blah, well Rob Manfred has to be happy along with Fox network. A Yankees-Mets World Series match up is still on the table and the Dodgers as well if they win tomorrow. I knew the Royals would get jettisoned by the Yankees without too much of a fight.
    • For Mountcastle …Maybe Chase Petty and Tristan Smith?
    • I’m guessing they ask for Mayo or Basallo of Kjerstad. For me …I’d give them Kjerstad since he’s defensively challenged IMO. Maybe Kjerstad, McDermott, Beavers, and O’Ferrall?
    • 192 wins in two seasons is a pretty strong argument to stay the course.  That said, I wonder if the young players wouldn't be better off long-term if the scientific matchups took a back seat to the raw talent a little more than we've seen.  Overthinking something can be a thing you know.
