Tell me about Edgin

He has been really good this spring. What is his situation?  Options, minor league deal?  Does he have a shot at the 25 man?

Where did he come from?

Mets.

Had Tommy John. Used to throw hard. Lefty. Got a bit of a Matt Albers look to him. Did not have good peripherals last year.

He looks like a journeyman with limited innings through his career.  He has had some decent K/9 years. In 2014 he limited the walks and turned a really nice year.

I can't figure out a way to link to an individual player query, but based on this person's metrics (which supposedly incorporate velocity, location, and movement from PitchFX data); none of pitches are plus and he was a bottom 10% guy last year in terms of overall 'pitch quality' or 'stuff' or whatever you want to call it.

That doesn't sound very encouraging.  He is however still getting innings and has had results.  I wonder if anything changed in his delivery or pitch selection?  Or is this just SSS spring training success that won't amount to a hill of beans. . .

Left-hander Josh Edgin retired the side in order in the ninth and has allowed one run and two hits in seven innings over seven appearances. He’s making a strong bid to join Araujo in the bullpen.

“That’s why he’s still in this camp and that’s why he’s still being considered,” Showalter said.

The Orioles will keep at least two left-handed relievers. Cortes and Joely Rodriguez also in the mix.
