If he was a catcher or gold glove ss, maybe you could live with ineptitude a while longer. But first base??

A very well paid first baseman who is highly backed by ownership

While Davis appears to have very little support here on the OH he seems to have a lot of support elsewhere.   Hyde appears in his corner.    His teammates seem to be pulling for him to break out and last night the fans at Oriole Park seem to rooting for him.

They are getting paid to be supportive.

Wonder how many tickets he paid for.

I’m pretty sure this is already been covered, but what about medical retirement? If he is really unable to see the ball, then of course he can’t hit it, and that’s a medical issue. Is that possible?

Huh?

We have no evidence at all that he has an issue with his eyes.

In fact I thought I read the other day he has 20/10 vision.

No.  Inability to play baseball at a major league level is not a medical condition.  Certainly not one that would qualify the team for relief from contract.

Plus, there's no way he could even fly out or make a diving play without being able to see properly. He can see. He can't physically get the bat there is the problem.

Chris Davis didn't force anyone to sign him to a 7 year contract.  That was the teams decision.  We cheered for Davis in the past.  I was never his biggest fan even in his best days as I can't stand watching someone strike out 200 times a year.  But at this point I hope he at least turns it our around to become a .200 hitter.   I was rooting for him to get hits last night.  As at least he hit the ball.   If he makes contact even if makes outs every at bat it is much easier for me to support him than if he strikes out every time up.

I think people have seen "Major League" too many times.
