Hunter Harvey the reliever

Ee-hee-hee-eaaaasy now.

He's had all of two MLB appearances.  And still has quite the injury history.  His FB is hot, no doubt, but he looks like a guy who doesn't know where the ball is going a lot of the time.  You can only get away with that for so long before big league hitters figure you out and start tattooing you.

His delivery is pretty violent .A better version of Jimmy Yacobonis. No way with that delivery could he be a major league starter.Might play for awhile as a reliever.

Are you worried about the delivery because you think it will lead to more injuries or because you doubt it’s consistently repeatable?

i think he could be good for a few years as a reliever. Starter would require a delivery change but I think the Orioles will keep him in relief. Reminds me a little of a Tiger reliever who threw really hard ,around 100 and had 3 good years. Also Daniel Bard from the Red Sox who also had a few really nice years.

let's see if I'm right......... Zumaya?

His delivery is not violent IMO. I actually think that it’s pretty smooth and simple for a guy throwing 100

He has a significant head jerk when he overthrows, but I didn’t see it on every pitch. Definitely lost command of location when it was pronounced.

I’d describe it as high effort from what I saw last night. Not exactly smooth.

Most folks said high effort was the problem with his old windup - which was a very simple windup that relied almost completely on his arm to do all the work.  Now, he's able to use his legs more, and the strain on his arm is less, and I think everyone's comfortable with his delivery.  But with his injury history and having so few innings pitched over the last several years, it just makes sense to go with him out of the pen.
