This thought has definitely occurred to me with Davis. Wouldn't kill him to choke up a bit, too.

I'm not so sure that a .175 hitter has ever gotten so much attention before.  I'm aware I've posted several times on here about Davis but....so have a lot of you.  I'm part of the problem, I freely admit it.  

Quite frankly, I don't care how he got bigger, etc.  If he feels it helps, I hope that's what he needs to feel better at the plate.  I'm just kinda tired of obsessing over Davis...only really care if he retires or gets cut.  Anything else is an annoyance, really.

I'm sure he hired a full time trainer and food specialist.  He already had the mass, just needed to convert it.  Now if he had a smaller frame and big growth, ala Barry Bonds, I'd say...yeah. I have an XXL frame and am inch shorter than Davis. I could probably add 25 pounds in a few months if I followed a beer and pizza diet.  But I don’t think 25 pounds of muscle is anyway possible.

I'm not sure I'm following you. The weight of the bat makes a big difference for whether you can get the bat off your shoulder in time. When players can't, they don't swing.

A lighter bat isn't going to help when he takes a center-center strike three.

Exactly, I think they are doing this with any player showing the signs of illness.

Seams like it happens just about every spring camp.

Flu season still going strong, and combine that with all those players traveling to Florida and being around each other it's a recipe for getting sick. Better now than closer to the end of March.

Most .175 hitters don't get paid $23M per season.
