Sept. 27th: Hangout Saturday Night at the Yard!!!

Had a great time at the game, as always. Enjoyed talking to Jagwar, Barb (forgot your name), BaltimoreChop, ScottieBaseball, scOtt, and J.D. Wished I would have stayed longer to see what the attendance would be for that game. Did think it was great that OH is undefeated this season!!

I want to say thanks again to the OH staff for getting us the deal on tix for the game, the T-Shirts and hat from the Orioles (hope that Roberts doesn't get traded now). I liked going to the Wharf Rat for pre-game drinks. I think this place is better than Edgar's.

Yeah! Thanks to Scottie and everyone for the stuff! Nice BRob t-shirt. :D

Wharf Rat is nice too! And easy to get to and from. I didn't get any food ( altho they had BASS ALE ON DRAUGHT!!! :2yay-thumb: ) I was ready to dive into Jag's nachos. They looked good as hell! :002_sdrool:

I was sorry to have missed the last Hangout night for 2008! I had some health issuses. I will work on that for next season.

Looked like you all had a great time. I am looking forward to meeting new friends in 2009. I WILL be to one or more in 2009 as well as Spring Training 2009. Also I'll be back in Bowie as a season ticket holder. Hope to see some of you there.

I had a fantabulous time last night--it was great hanging out with everyone, and getting a replacement for my well-loved Roberts shirt! Can't wait until Hangout Nights next year.

And who was it who presciently asked, "Were you there when Fahey hit the game-winning sac fly?"

That would be this guy right here. :D

Wow... just made it back home from my excursion from CT. The ride down and back were particularly brutal. Hard to believe that I spent 12+ hours in the car for 24 hours in Baltimore

Too many people to thank. No way will I remember everyone. I suppose my most memorable moments were toasting Scott Bakula at the Wharf Rat, watching Brandon Fahey put the team on his shoulders for the win, and successfully defending my dinner with scOtt hanging over me.

ScottieBaseball, thanks for setting everything up. I will definitely try to get down for another Hangout night next year

I'm sorry I never asked you two ladies' names. Were you on the right or the left SpringBarb?

And yeah, J.D. was butter, all night long, cuz he was on a roll! :wedge:

Hey guys -- great time again. My thanks go out to the OH staff for making these nights happen. I absolutely love the fact that I can go to games with a whole bunch of fellow Oriole fans and we can just talk baseball...and other goofy stuff for a few hours.

I am looking forward to next year's OH nights. I hope to see you guys in April.

Until then -- enjoy the playoffs and the offseason.

To Scott Bakula!!!:beerchug1: I thought it was bizarre that we were toasting to the Quatnam Leap guy at the Wharf Rat, but then again this is the type of group we are at Orioles Hangout. Just here to have fun.

I really enjoyed myself with the MASN jokes. Were you there when Daniel Carbera got rocked for 6 runs in the first inning? MASN was!!

OH nights- UNDEFEATED!!! Let's keep that tradition alive for 2009!!

    • Awesome research, thanks. I was a fan in 1974 but had forgotten that string of five shutouts.  This last two weeks of rotation excellence (and your list) is giving me flashbacks to the summer of love (1967), when I started to make game logs to savor the strings of shutouts and low-hit gems by Oriole starters. Looking back now at the game logs kept by Baseball-Reference (manually, without your sorting skills!), it's hard to identify exactly which streak so impressed my teenage fan-meter, or even which year. Certainly 1968 was all about low scoring league-wide.  Maybe it was the stretch 22-27 May 1967 featuring Phoebus, Bertaina, Barber, McNally, and Phoebus again (good old 4-man rotation!), including three scoreless outings. Or Hardin and Brabender joining Phoebus, McNally and Palmer from 15 to 20 September, 1967. What about 1969, with Cuellar, Lopez and Leonhard joining the previous cast of McNally, Phoebus, and Hardin, twirling 10 starts (13-22 June) while allowing only 12 runs.  Anyway, it feels rather historic to see this run of high-end pitching from an Orioles rotation. Here's a chart to recap the numbers on this streak in progress... Date Starter IP H ER ERA (14 G) totals: 81.67 59 19 2.09 21-Apr Irvin 6.2 4 0   22-Apr Suarez 5.2 4 0   23-Apr Rodriguez 4.1 11 7   24-Apr Kremer 5.1 3 2   26-Apr Burnes 6 3 1   27-Apr Irvin 7 4 0   28-Apr Suarez 4 7 4   29-Apr Rodriguez 5.2 5 0   30-Apr Kremer 7 4 2   1-May Burnes 6 4 2   2-May Bradish 4.2 4 1   3-May Irvin 6.1 2 0   4-May Means 7 3 0   5-May Kremer 6 1 0
    • Somehow feels typical of Orioles to play up to the competition, and get burned by the pretenders... same with individual starting pitchers.
    • It was very obvious ...he would also take a look at his hand frequently. On Saturday, watching a clip in the dugout after one of the HR's, Kremer went to give a high five, pulled back and took a look at his hand. I thought it strange, and I thought something was off. He always appeared to be one of the more enthusiastic celebrators. It would seem the coaches would notice and probably did, but thought nothing of it. Certainly didn't affect his game.
    • Umpire really tried to screw us on Saturday.
    • I heard someone call it The Great American Smallpark.
    • I just looked thru their record a while ago.  Series against the Nats (2), White Sox, Marlins, Cardinals, Rockies and Angels makes their record of 1 win better than the O's way less impressive.  Their schedule coming up must be hell.
