So if the season WERE to end from this and the O's don't play any other games.....could the O's declare themselves 2020 AL East Champions?  Asking for a friend.....

I was disappointed to see that the Orioles had to travel to Miami.  I'm assuming there's a good chance this game doesn't happen tonite...but on the flip side of that coin, if this game doesn't happen

Sure, but I mean if the Marlins aren't receiving any word from MLB, the only thing they can do is try to fill out their roster. I'm no Marlins sympathizer, but that's really just not fair. There was never any plan for this many players being out at one time.

What about the remaining Marlins players and coaches on the roster? 

I know MLB has achieved a pretty fast pipeline for testing, but I thought there were still delays between tests and results.  If you bring in replacement guys before confirming the remaining ones are clear, you risk going through this all over again.

The issue is you have had 14 players test positive in 24 hours.  How many more are infected and will test positive in the coming days? The right thing to do is quarantine everyone that was in that clubhouse for 2 weeks.  You can’t bring in new guys to a possibly infected clubhouse, it is simply irresponsible.  No one wants to admit this because it very possibly spells the end to the season.

I think you’re correct but I also think the Owners and MLPA could easily and quickly work something out. Now that the season has actually started, it would smack of impossible incompetence to suddenly say,”woops no baseball after all.”

True, but do we really know the Marlins have had no word from MLB?

There is an emergency meeting today with MLB execs today.

They did build in contingencies to move to other cities in the event of an outbreak.

Sure but where are the active players going to come from without blowing up your 40-man roster? That's the issue I'm seeing. Anyway, we'll just have to see what unfolds!

I remember the old rec league days, having to more some players to the opposing team, so we could have a game. :) :) :)

      I was listening to MLB Prospects podcast last week. They talked about Gillen, and mentioned a lot about how he may be the best high school hitter. However, it’s a tough call where he’ll go because of a weak arm. They said the arm was injured, a right labrum, and his arm strength is not back after two years. So, probably wasn’t going to be a SS anyway when said and done due to size, maybe a 2B/LF or CF profile due to the weak arm and 60 speed. He was projected to maybe become the top high school player in the draft as a sophomore, but injured the shoulder and had some other injuries that have held him back. It is going to be interesting to see where Elias goes with picks 22 and 32. I would like to see Gillen there, but I think he’ll be gone. Kellon Lindsey is interesting, and maybe Billy Amick, along with one of the previous college hitters you mentioned will sneak through. Lindsey is rising fast.

      A good friend of mine coaches college baseball.  He’s studied and dedicated his career to understanding how humans move. Not all humans move the same way.  An incredible talent could potentially be taught to move against his body’s preference and fail.  New wave progressive coaches understand how various body types work and the nuance to teach/coach them effectively.

      I'm still trying to figure out how this guy is out of the majors for 7 years and somehow manages to pick up 2 MPH on his fastball, at the age of 34.  But hey, I'm not complaining.   Statcast loves him so far this year.  Statcast thought he was a little unlucky in his last stint in the majors, and unsurprisingly they think he's getting a little lucky now, but even accounting for his good luck he's still in great pitcher territory.

      2 "gutsy" starts in a row.  That's exactly what you want out of veterans to demonstrate to the young guys.
