Rocker has seen a drop in his fastball velocity and he's someone who could slip in the first round due to health concerns. The question with Rocker is it arm fatigue or something more serious.

I think that's old news - his velocity came back.  Otoh, Leiter seems like more of a sure thing, and his fastball velocity has improved.

Leiter will very likely be gone by pick 5.  If not, I'd take him in a heartbeat.  Rocker should be there but I'd rather have Jobe, who may also be gone.  It could be something like those three, Davis, and four Shortstops in the first 8 picks.

I don't think they will even have an opportunity on Leiter, but I'd definitely go for Rocker. Would also be fine with Mayer or Lawler if they fall to us. Not a fan of House unless they think he can stick at SS and the C's seem unnecessarily risky given the other options available. I'm against picking Jobe, but have confidence in Elias if he goes in that direction. I'm having a tough time believing some of the other names associated with us.

It sounds like he is going to go underslot again and I am not a fan of that approach at all. There are some really good pitchers and SS's available. If Leiter is available (unlikely), I would absolutely be disappointed if we didn't pick him. Also Jordan Lawler and Marcelo Mayer seems like studs. Brady House was tired to the O's previously. Henry Davis is sky-rocketing up draft boards as well.

The most recent mock had O's taking Sal Frelick, an OFer from BC which doesn't seem like a top 5 by collective mocks but we all know a mock is just a mock.

To me, you can't pass on Leiter, Lawler or Lawler.

I wonder if Elias will go the quantity over quality route like last year or get the BPA regardless of slot considerations?

Bearing in mind that we don’t know where Elias had Martin placed on his board, so he maybe wasn’t compromising on quality at all.

Or House or Mayer?

O's are rumored to covet Leiter. I dont know what they think about Rocker but it sounds like he will definitely be there at #5.

Leiter to Boston sounds like it's going to happen if you believe the mocks.  Fangraphs said earlier that he's trying to land there.

I'd be floored if Leiter was there at 5 for us.

Ugh, another Davis for us.  Glenn, then Chris, now Henry.  Can't wait.

At least we had Storm and Eric.

Fangraphs has us taking the Louisville catcher.  Keith Law says the same.  Law had us taking Kjerstadt

Why do we want another first round catcher? That doesn’t work. You’ve got to have a catcher who is clearly better and a catcher who is clearly not as good. No team has a first round catcher as their back up. Not only is it a waste of resources, but the back up is going to scream that he’s a first rounder and should be starting.

Exactly how little do you know?

Just last season one of the two teams in the World Series had a former top 5 draft pick, at Catcher, as the backup.

I don't recall hearing a peep out of him.
