Elias on Rodriguez and Rutschman

On an interview during the broadcast, Elias basically said that Grayson Rodriguez and Adley Rutschman would be given a shot at making the club out of spring training next year.

I don’t necessarily believe him, but that’s what he said.

Ben McDonald asked Elias how aggressive the O’s wouid be in free agency this offseason and Elias started to answer, but just then Taveras robbed Severino of a homer on a great catch at the wall that warranted an interruption for comment and a replay, and then Hays was thrown out stealing on the very next pitch and the inning ended before Elias resumed his answer.   The next inning, McDonald commented that he was sorry Elias hadn’t had a chance to answer the question.    For Elias’ part, he was probably happy to be rescued and get the hell out of there.

I hate in when game action interrupts a good interview.   ?

Yeah, I've got a chance at a date with Emily Ratajkowski, too.  The only chance that G-Rod and AR make it out of ST on the 25 man roster for Opening Day is if the current clock manipulation rules are negotiated away in the next collective bargaining agreement.

If those rules are the same in 2022 as they are now?  We'll be waiting for a few weeks.

God, I hate it when an in-game interview interrupts the game.  It's a sign that the game just isn't interesting enough.  @Philipshouldn't be allowed to comment on this thread, too, since it contains information collected from an in-game interview which he so loathes.

I appreciate that you disagree with me but your anecdote perfectly illustrates the problem to which I refer.

Anyway, I'm not so concerned as to when G-Rod and AR will be up.  I think we can all agree that they should make the OD roster but if the service clock manipulation rule is still in place, they'll be in the minors until that date passes.  And while none of us like that, gaining an extra year of time is worth it.

I'm more concerned about what the rest of the roster will look like with G-Rod and AR.  Damn shame Taveras had to make a great play because I would have liked to have heard what Elias would have said about how aggressive they'll be in free agency, though I wouldn't believe any of it either.

They need some good players on the team to compliment them.  I'd like to see AR catch for good pitchers, not Harvey types.

There's a chance the rules will change.  There's NO chance Emily Whatshername will give you shot.
