Minor League releases at end of 2022 spring training

I’m not sure I remembered he was still with the organization.  Injuries really set him back.   I wish him all the best.

He played his first full season last year between Delmarva and Aberdeen. He held his own but at he didn't really show anything at the plate that made you think he was a prospect. Nice arm though.

Joking aside, some familiar names on here - Jarrett, Escarra, Janvrin. Yahn got into the final spring game.

Alvarez has always had a fascinating statline. 62 career walks to 36 career strikeouts. Career .256 hitter with a .371 OBP, but absolutely no power, 8 extra base hits, all doubles, over 371 at-bats.

That was actually pretty classy of the Orioles. I had a feeling when I saw the names in that last game those guys were probably going to get released. I liked watching Yahn play. Such a scrappy little player that will play anywhere and do anything to help the team. He was a great org kinda guy to have around. 

No surprises elsewhere.

He was probably one of the weakest hitters i've seen professionally. He really had no pop whatsoever and wasn't very good defensively anywhere.

Yeah, he would seemingly have to be an elite defensive shortstop to be playable with his offensive output. You just don't see stat lines like that very often anymore, even in the minors.

I thought they were higher on Zach Jarret, but I guess with the breakout seasons from Stowers and others last year, he got…Lapped. 

Escarra had power but that was about it.

I was slightly surprised to see Jarrett let go, but he certainly wasn’t a top prospect, and I guess the handwriting was on the wall when he wasn’t listed on the break camp squad.   I agree with your comments on Yahn — I hope he catches on somewhere else if that’s what he wants to do.

Yeah, if you look at the Bowie and Norfolk rosters it does make sense that Jarrett was the odd man out. The only outfielder between Bowie and Norfolk you could make a case for releasing over Jarrett is Shayne Fontana, with Jarrett going to Norfolk and Rizer to Bowie. With the number of decent outfielders in AA and AAA plus the logjam in the infield at AA, it makes sense for Jarrett to go. There really aren't any true org guys in the Baysox or Norfolk infield or outfield.
