The overrating of the impact of Chirinos on this site is really funny to me.

Remember Paul Bako? Whenever I'd suggest the team could do better than a 35-year-old with a .534 OPS I would be drowned out by a chorus of "clearly you don't understand the intangible impact of a veteran catcher on a pitching staff.  He could go 0-for-the-season and he'd still be an asset."

15 years and the story is the same.

I can't imagine having to play 5 games in 5 days as a 24 yo baseball player. And I mean its hot out, we should probably enclose all baseball fields so the players can always play in a controlled 70 degree 30% humidity environment.

Sometimes a player's "off day" isn't truly a day off.  They can focus their energy on spending extra time in the cage working on swing mechanics, work on conditioning, etc, etc.

Yes, a 38-year-old hitting .137 and who is last in the league in framing runs is probably the key to the franchise's success.

Something we can agree on.I was being facetious. Always find it funny the praise of the catchers pitch calling Heard what a great game Adley called on Sunday. Don't hear he called a lousy game on Friday and Monday. But the Orioles MLB writer thinks  he needs the veteran.

After the past few years of Pedro Severino, a guy like Chirinos is such a breath of fresh air, I can't blame anyone from overrating him.

No doubt but it’s still over the top…just as the hatred for Severino was.

Nah, Severino earned all the hatred that was thrown his way.  Was simply a very poor backstop, and the bat wasn't good enough to offset the deficiencies behind the plate.
