I mean she stated how Mountcastle was about to see pitch 8 in the at bat and the graphic came up immediately that there were already 10 pitches this at bat.

Ideally the play by play broadcaster should be doing both, but with a heavier lean toward PBP, and the color they give should be shallower than and complimentary to what the main color commenter is doing.  Gary Thorne was really good at that.

I'm sure there have been several at bats where she didn't say anything game related until an out or hit was made.

Ben McDonald does great too, imo.  He always weaves the game action in while letting Palmer tell his stories.

Palmer is even pausing at the right points to allow her to say something about the game. I think there were 3 or 4 pitches that went by without anything said about them. It's like watching a roundtable discussion and not a baseball game.
