Damn, Odor's right hand would have gotten to the bag (or the plate as Newman called it), but his right hand went by the base and he only touched it with his left which was a bit behind.  And that made the difference.

And of course there's always the argument that you should just run through first base standing.

Feels like the runner's instinct there is often to avoid a possible fielder collision.  But if you slide in hands-first like that, it's just as bad, you're looking to get your hands cleated like Hays did a couple of weeks back.

If it's to avoid a tag I understand sliding, but when it's a foot race to 1B keep running.

It’s just an odd situation with the broadcast and the small crowd.  Earlier could hear fans on the field mic. Palmer mentioned it.
