With so many games between the O's and Blue Jays, it's all in front of them. You don't really need to root for the other team to lose to some random NL cellar dweller; you just need to beat them straight up. Can't ask for much more than that.

No.  At no point have I believed they would.  This has all been great but they're just a bit short this year.

We have won 2 out of every 3 games for the last 54 games.  The fact that we can't seem to gain much ground sure isn't our fault.  Winning 2 of 3 should always be okay and we shouldn't have to sweep every opponent just to keep up, as that is ridiculous.  Win 2 out of every 3 next year and I imagine 108 wins will be enough to qualify for the playoffs such that we don't have to care what the hell the Pirates do against our divisional rivals.

As for this year, Seattle doesn't have a single tough road game left after today and their last 20 games are so easy they should go 17-3.  But looking over at a major league division, Tampa only has 3 easy games (home against Texas) out of their last 30.  Toronto only has 3 easy games (road against Texas) out of their last 30 and 19 of those 30 are against us and Tampa. So we are at the point in the schedule where neither of our divisional colleagues can simply beat up on weaklings.  Whoever gets in is going to have to really earn it.
