That is interesting.  Thanks for sharing.  Goes to show the importance of drafting/developing.  BLA is basically a hedge firm applying portfolio market theory to prospects and their projected earning potential.  Similar type of thing we're seeing Elias and SigBot doing with their modeling.

At first glance it looks like what Schoop did a decade ago.

I would like to see Elly perform for a few months before judging how his tools will translate into being a good/great major leaguer.

OK, maybe this doesn’t take a few months….

Sheesh.

Young players always struggle when you first call them up and you can’t bring up rookies on a contending team.

I'm not even sure you'd call the Reds a contender team before he showed up.  They've won 12 in a row and were under .500 when he joined the team.

In that division, they had a chance.

And he has helped make them even better, which we have been told can’t happen with rookies.

Bingo.  All the whining about not bringing up Westburg or Cowser or whomever because they may not immediately perform is foolish. Yes,  some guys initially struggle... you know,  like Mateo and Frazier are struggling.  Other guys,  like Mr Elly here,  come up and have similar results to what they were doing in AAA.  Sure,  we don't KNOW how Cowser or Westburg would do in MLB.  But we know Frazier and Mateo are bad, poor or average at best.  It's likely Westburg could at least match their lifeless at bats, if not vastly exceed them.

Plus the advantage defensively.
