Statcast confirms the eye test that Jackson struggles with the outer third of the zone. He has a whiff rate of 32% vs 22% MILB average for lefty batters on these pitches and an average launch angle of 4 degrees vs 9 degree league average. His average EV and barrel rate are also slightly under league average. If you include pitches that miss the zone outside, his whiff rate is 42% vs MILB avg of 32%. -

A game of inches sometimes. Who would’ve thought Austin freaking Voth gets 2 of the best players in MLB out with the bases loaded? Stuff happens. We got the W. Most importantly. Seattle is a tough team. A playoff type game. -
Agree with original post but I was very encouraged that last night was best that Graysons stuff looked all season. 19 swings & miss for 41% whiff rate. He’s still not quite there with the command (and too many walks) just imagine if that ever clicks. Changeup and breaking balls were sharpest of the season. From the bullpen, both Yenni and Cio were outstanding and stuff was straight nasty. -

At this point, Elias should just IL Mounty and that buys him some time to see Mayo up here and builds in an excuse if Mayo were to flop. I don’t think Elias wants to come off Urias. But… what is best case scenario for Urias in the playoffs? He’s a defensive replacement? When? We like Westburg at 3B and Mateo at 2B. Bring Mayo up, if he kills he stays and we trade Urias to an NL team for a non 40 man prospect. Bradish can be 60 day IL’d for the 40 man spot for Mayo. So we don’t even lost a player. Mayo has forced the issue. Who cares if we don’t get as much value back for Urias as we think. Urias is in such a niche role for us. -

One positive about Scherzer is that he’s pitched for so many different teams does home/road in the playoffs probably doesn’t matter to him. Let’s say it matters a lot less to him than someone like Grayson. Scherzer could be our road dog literally.
