Quick Resource Q: Where does one find out Options-left info?

Probably a better place as well, but it’s on the top of the Fangraphs player page. There’s a row with service time, free agent year and MiLB options. However, they don’t update it live during the year, only in the offseason - for instance, it still has 2 for Bryan Baker and 3 for Tyler Wells even though both were just optioned.

Does someone earn 3 option years if they get picked in the Rule 5? I never thought about that before… but Wells was claimed on Rule 5 and we optioned him and like you said Wells had 3. I guess they do.

Rule 5 players maintain their options if selected by another team BUT they must be kept on the 25 man roster for the entire season in which they were selected. After that season, they can be optioned. I keep a big roster spreadsheet with everyone in the organization and happy to share info if you’re looking for specific players.
