Missed the first 7 innings

Just got back from the rodeo.. 2-4. What happened? Good pitching from them? bad pitching from us? Just a quick summary

Irvin allowed two 2-run homers.   We didn’t hit enough to overcome that.   Pretty bad day at the plate.

That's a surpirse about the batting. I've been impressed at how good the top of the lineup is at the bat. Do you think it was just a lackluster showing or was the AZ pitching pretty solid? Henderson did hit that double at the end which was awesome.

This feels like the series and road trip where things starts to unravel if they don’t pick up a win tomorrow. Lousy loss tonight.

These things happen over a long season. Davies was definitely good. He threw strikes and made good pitches. The umpires also gifted him several strikes when we were threatening.

Overall, we have a good lineup that has performed well. Perhaps the one negative is we don't a Freddie Freeman/Acuna type with 1.000 OPS. We've got a bunch of .800 OPS guys up and down the lineup. We don't have anyone who is likely hit 30 HR this year unless Santander stays hot (ATL already has four plus a likely fifth!). That means we need timely hitting and you never know when it's going to show up.

[Three Run Homer]

The key inning was the top of the 3rd.  O's trailed 2-1 but had first and second with nobody out.  Henderson hit the ball hard the opposite way but right at the LF.  Santander smoked a ball to RF and it looked like a 2-run double off the bat, but the RF made a nice play and caught it on the fly, and Urias was doubled off second.  Inning over.   Bad luck, it happens.
