This is not playoff baseball. When you lose a playoff series your season is over. Both of these teams are going to the playoffs.

Adley with an incredibly bad at bat in the key moment of this game, first pitch swing again after Civsle had walked Hicks. 
 

His swing has become almost totally uppercut (after the HR derby lol) and he goes down on his knees so often with the loss of balance

Bradish was at 88 or so pitches entering the 7th. Maybe Hyde has him pitch but maybe he doesn’t. Maybe he goes Cano for the 7th and part of the 8th and Felix the rest.

Im not saying this to say that Hyde made a mistake by keeping Bradish in. Just saying that he used those 2 to get 9 outs during the season in big moments and tonight easily could have been one of those times. 
 

Us not being able to shorten games against the best teams is a real issue.

No way Hyde would ever have used Bautista as a stopper in anything less than the 8th, he believes in the save rule too much

In the fourth inning, Austin Hays flied out to shallow center field. I believe that was the only time all night a Tampa Bay outfielder touched a live ball. That's amazing.

Sort of a quiet game offensively, but typical when we play Tampa.  In the 10 games they’ve played, they’ve scored 37, we’ve scored 34.   The strike zone was extremely wide tonight so it was a tough night for hitting.

Disagree. While we are not technically in the playoffs, the division is open to this playoff atmosphere. 
Do the Orioles play the Twins or get a bye verses the WC winners. This is playoff baseball

We have lost 4 of 5 and are in a teamwide offensive cold spell.  Yes, we will snap out of it eventually but that may be a week from now and we will likely lose the division .  Bad timing for this to happen.

The playoffs haven't started yet. You can't spit on the literal definition of the playoffs and say this is it. I'd much rather they struggle now than in the playoffs, you know, the real playoffs.

Digress, but this is the playoffs for the O’s. Every game counts moving forward. Yes, this is based on the cumulative season success. But every game moving forward has playoff implications.

Three big plays not made.

Hicks double clutches on a throw to the plate allowing a runner to score.  He has the arm and the throw was on line. If he throws it as soon as he gets it the runner is out at the plate.

Adley comes up with a runner at third and one out and grounds into a double play.

Bradish thinks he struck out Raley in the seventh on a pitch the umpire called a ball. One the next pitch Raley homers.   

None of these plays were errors but all of them are plays the O's need to make better to beat the Rays.

We hit 3 balls out of the infield the entire night. Literally 3. It is almost impossible to win a game doing that.

No, he wouldn’t have used him earlier..but having Bautista pushes everyone down and makes the pen deeper and gives you the luxury of going to it earlier.
