MLB International Signings Analysis: Potential Breakout Prospects For Under $1 Million

13 players listed

Elvin Garcia, SS, Dominican Republic (Orioles)

A lanky, switch-hitting shortstop, Garcia has shown a knack for barreling balls against live pitching, with a line-drive approach and gap power. He’s a plus runner and a good athlete with loose, fluid actions at the position, capable of making throws from different angles with a 60 arm on the 20-80 scouting scale.

If I remember right, the O’s press release usually comes out at around 11-12 o’clock and then we start getting some photos, scouting thumbnails, etc.  Nice way to warm up a cold snowy day down here in the DMV.

No players from Venezuela listed yet which is a bit odd when you see other teams lists so far.  The Orioles and Nationals are the only teams with no Venezuelans and most teams have multiple.

Below are others I’m expecting based on social media.  This list is unlikely fully accurate.  Some of these players may have  different “official names” than what’s listed on social media.  A few may also be lined up for future signing periods rather than today.

Infielders:

- Meykel Baro (Cuban who was with Jordan Sanchez at Yuan Pino academy)

- Christian Astudillo (Venezuela, Masa Academy)

- Jorge Drullard

- Joseluis Pena

- [first name] Campusano

- Cleudi Valenzuela

Outfielders:

- Emmanuel Disla Corniel (switch-hitter from Yordanny Rodriguez academy)

- Lisandro Sanchez

Catchers:

- Juan Adames (BTI Alex Sanchez academy)

Pitchers:

- Esteban Mejia

- Josmil Sanchez

- Manuel Suero (position may be wrong)

Interesting, because I believe you listed 12 players here in addition to the 8 listed on BA and I think Melewski, or someone, reported that there would be 20 signings in this class, for now.

P.S.  You are quite the detective!   Lol

I’d guess that 2 to 4 of these 12 are probably class of 2025 or 2026.
