Do guys who had a career year at age 34 suddenly find it? Should a GM rely on the 34 y/o repeating his success or try to find a replacement? Does your answer change if this guy is pitching in MLB for the first time in 7 years?
Of course they should bring him back in some capacity, but nobody should be writing his name into the rotation next year. If they do, Elias didn’t do his job.
Right now I’d trust Coulombe, Soto, and Akin. When I need a RH I’d go with Cano or Webb. Don’t wanna see Dominguez or Perez in a close game.
This is why I don’t like the decision to pitch Suarez 6 IP on Sunday. He would help us in the pen more than Povich.
