Cole Ragans was nails to prevent his Royals from being swept in Minnesota.    The Twins finish 4-3 on the 7 game CLE-KCR homestand.

BAL up a few games on MIN.    The final weekend game theory could be complex if those 2 clubs are bracketed for a 4-5 matchup, and either or both of them have division championship chances alive, or even a close race for home field advantage for that ALWC series.

If BAL and MIN are both 93-68 on the Sunday of Game 162, who are you pitching with ALWC HFA at stake.    That Sunday pitcher may not go in a Tuesday-Thursday series.

Red Sox lose so back to 7 games up on them.  Their bullpen gave up 7 runs in 8th, 9th,  and 10th innings.  There pen just isn’t good enough to go on a run imo.  They will need to take 3 out of 4 in this series to stay in it.

You pitch your best guys in the playoffs, not to ensure HFA.

6-2 vs the Red Sox so that means the next win is really worth 2 because of taking tie breaker.  The same with the Yankees we need just 1 win to get tiebreaker there too. We have tie breaker over Royals and 1 win in Twins series gives us advantage on them.  They all could have some significance.

Mariners lost 2-1 despite 7 scoreless innings from Bryce Miller.  Seattle continues to fade in the playoff race.  A pitcher for hitting trade seems like an offseason trade that will help both Baltimore and Seattle.  Not to sidetrack this thread.

Is Cleveland the only likely playoff team the O's don't own the tiebreaker with?

Were actually 6-1 against the Red Sox.
