Trade talk

Any new thoughts on trades?   I think we are out on both Crochet and Skubal.  But I believe we will trade for a solid number three type for the rotation.  Maybe a Jameson Taillon or Chris Bassitt type.
I would love to see the O’s get Skubal though.  I think I might be in the minority when I say trade Holliday.  I think with Gunnar, Westy, Mayo and Norby, we can afford to move Holliday.  And the Tigers would love to have him and be rid of the horrible Javier Baez at SS.  Obviously Holliday would not be enough.  I would suggest also trading a promising OFer, maybe Jud Fabian, a promising IFer, Max Wagner and also throw in a promising SP, like Seth Johnson.
Thoughts?

Was just about to say this.  You can’t miss it.  No need for this thread.  Just post in the other one.  @Ripken3184 must think he’s Roy Frickin Firestone.

How would Holliday not be enough? NO.

The Jays said they’re not moving Bassitt as they look to go for it in 2025.

I've seen posts articles (I think it was Verducci?) that suggest Holliday plus is necessary for Skubal.  As highliy touted as Holliday is, Skubal has proven his worth in the big leagues and sorely fits a need for the Orioles.  I think I would begrudgingly move Holliday for Skubal, and I expect it would take more than just Holliday.

Are we sure that’s not posturing?

Very well could be but they put 300mill in the Rogers center and may feel pressured to put out a competitive team next year.

Who knows, maybe if they lose tonight and tomorrow they may shift gears at the last hour.

    • I’m sure this question has been asked and answered a few times already, but is it safe to say yet that Eflin has been THE oily variety bohunk starting pitcher moved at the deadline? Is it even close?
    • Game is apparently going to be delayed.
    • Yeah, it was a glorious first week of the return for Holliday. Since those first 7 games, it’s been a .478 OPS with a K rate north of 30%. That’s “black hole” territory for me. Can’t argue much with your point about big hits — the kid has been timely with the knocks he’s gotten, at least. I just get a little weary of all the “Hyde just wants to play these garbage vets because #veteranosity” stuff. The guys who have been the worst of all are kids we consider The Core: Adley, Holliday, Mayo, and Cowser in any big PA. That (along with the injuries) is what’s really causing this offense to fall short of expectations, not the much-maligned vets that Hyde “loves to play” like Urias, Mullins, Jimenez, Rivera, Slater, McCann, etc. As if Hyde would rather play several waiver-wire nobodies every game rather than just pencil in all the top prospects.
    • I don’t get why we’d want a struggling rookie on the roster in a playoff chase. It would be different if he was a good fielder or base runner. Him being here doesn’t seem to help him or the team.
    • My best guess is that the crosschecker thought the penalties were bulls*** and didn't penalize him for them fully.   I don't actually think Stanley played bad other than the illegal formation penalties that I really don't think we should be penalizing him for.
    • Top, top post. Thank you for writing this!  Thank god we've won a few games and this place is a bit back to normal. There were a few weeks there where this place was more reactionary than a political debate on twitter.  re: the bolded, I agree, and honestly don't get it. I really don't see any Verdugo - Domínguez parallel here, and it seems a stretch to make one (for the purpose of serving an agenda or confirming a pre-existing bias?).
