3/5: Pirates at O's

Arrieta strikes out Doumit to strand two runners in scoring position. He had two Ks in the inning, but also a pair of walks and a single.

Halfway through the game, it's tied at 2.

I think they forgot to turn on Tom Davis's mic. You can hear him faintly in the background trying to call the game.

Ah, there he is. Blake Davis reaches on an error by Iwamura to start the inning.

The new Pirates pitcher is Jeremy Powell, who hasn't pitched in the major leagues in a whopping TEN YEARS.

Jones flies out to Jones (Adam to Garrett). It's deep enough for Davis to tag and move to third. Productive out!

[Three Run Homer]

Both of them were once good hitters. Once.

An Andino grounder goes right through the legs of shortstop Ronny Cedeno. He Bucknered it.

Davis scores to put the O's back on top, 3-2. The O's have taken advantage of two Pirates errors this inning.

BTW, Andino gets credit for an RBI because the run would've scored anyway. So, you know, update your spring training statistics book accordingly.

Jeremy Powell has been out of the league so long that the last team he pitched for was the Montreal Expos.

But it doesn't stop him from striking out Nick Markakis. Two down.

And the Pirates bungle yet another play. On a Tejada grounder to third, Walker makes an errant throw to first.

Third error of the inning for the Pirates. Runners at the corners, two outs.

JTrea's boy Scott Moore pinch-runs for Tejada.

After seeing so much horrendous defense behind him, Powell gets the final out himself on a comebacker from Moeller.

End of the 5th. Orioles back in front, 3-2.

Moore at 3B, Florimon at SS, Snyder at 1B, Angle in CF, and someone in RF (didn't catch who it was).

Chorye Spoone now pitching.

If Spoone makes it to the majors, his entrance music should be "Spoonman" by Soundgarden.

Leadoff walk to Pearce.

Brandon Snyder fields a Moss grounder for the first out, as Pearce moves to second.

Awfully quiet in here tonight. So, do you like...stuff?

Whoa! Jeff Salazar makes a nice diving catch in RF (sorry for not knowing who you were earlier, Jeff), and then caps it off by doubling off Pearce at second.

Inning over. Going to the bottom of the 6th, O's have a 3-2 lead.
