Huff on Anita Marks today at 4

O no

Who wants to give a second chance to a player who stinks? There's no need. Add on top of it the fact that he referred to Bmore as a horse$**** town, and why should he get one? Second chances aren't a requirement. He has done nothing to endear himself to this franchise of this city. I find the comments on how he refuses to watch tape and sees it as a waste of time much more troublesome than painting a pornstar. Basically, he came across as an immature fool. And, immature fools who struggle at their job aren't really worth multiple chances.

I have to think that if Huff had hit during the first half of last season like he did over the second half this thread would be a lot shorter.

Of course it would. But, he didn't. He stunk up the joint. A lot of people didn't want him here when he was a poor hitting quiet guy. Now he's a poor hitting, immature, ignorant fool who badmouthed the city he plays in. Why are people surprised that he gets a harder time than if Bedard had done this?

Yeah who would want a guy with these #'s...

.309 AVG, .389 OBP, .508 SLG, .897 OPS

Unless they get a good offer for Huff, he should stay on this team as the DH.

Because as usaual people are being disengenous about it IMO . You can't convince me that all this indignation is over the use of the word horses@#! as opposed to saying "B'more's nightlife sucks". It's about the fact they don't like Huff's prformance. Well fine complain about that instaed of all this pious holier and thou Horse$#@! crap:rolleyes:

The point is, if you are not producing on the field, then you open yourself up to more criticism. Maybe if Huff tried a little harder or studied film instead of jacking off, he wouldn't have had such a lackluster season.

Fixed that for you. As you can see from the above post I made, Huff's second half #'s were excellent. He had a miserable first half but then worked hard with Crowley to fix his swing. He isn't a no talented hack like everyone is trying to make him out to be. You don't have those kind of second half #'s without any skill. If he can be motivated (and after this scandal my guess is he will be now by Trembley and the rest of the coaching staff), my guess is he'd have less of a first half slump.

I don't like his performance first and foremost. This is just more piled on top. He's not a player I want on the team, and he wasn't before this. Why do you have this overwhelming need to defend him?

I'm not defending him, I'm criticising all the pious posturing and underlying hypocrisy that is going on in this thread. I think Huff is a dork. I don't care for him as a player, wasn't happy abut his signing. But none of that has anything to do with his performance on BTLS (except the dork part) it has to do with his performance on the field. But I'm not offended by his BTLS act, I'm bored by it.

I think you have made you point well known in the threads. While some might disagree why not let then vent their frustrations or share their opinions with having to explain why they feel that way. Isn't that some of the value in fan forums? Everyone knows your side of the debate I am sure you changed some opinions, but let others have theirs.

But El is some are offended buy what Huff did on the show Why can't you understand that ? Some are very offended by porn. I wanted Huff on the team but now is has going way beyond what i think is the proper way to behave. I read that the Angelos family is upset at him for doing what he did and so is Andy M. If you find what he did has just bored you please understand if offendes others. And i am not pious hollier than thou. I have made many mistakes in my life. But porn is not one of them. Porn is degrading to women and to men. It serves no purpose.

I hear this faulty reasoning quite often here. Of course everyone has a right to express their feelings, when have you seen me say you have no right to say something. But when you express an opinion you hold yourself up to criticism for expressing it. I'm questioning the sincereity of some of the opinions expressed about Huff's appearance on BTLS. You are essentially telling me let others have their say and leave them alone. That's not what we do here.

18 of your last 24 post on the subject have been the same. Most have moved on to raiding the Dodgers farm system and letting people vent if they fell the need. You just can't rest until you apologize for every player’s obtuse actions. I think Tony-OH was dead on in that regard.

I believe you when you say you are offended by this stuff. That's understandable. What set me off, were people saying they watched and enjoyed BTLS but took exception to Huff's being on it. And continuing to complain while they snickerd at Melissa Midwest's video which they posted here. That seems disingenuous to me.

    • Could it be that they allowed the Gnats to reside within 30 minutes of their home. Effectively cutting their market in half?
    • Got my all-time low rarity score on today's game - 6.
    • 41 freaking years and here's this guy with the name pickles telling me I should be happy with 91 wins and getting owned in the playoffs again. 😂 😂 I saw a team that looked terrible the second half and probably didn't even deserve that spot the way they were playing .
    • Lol. Here's the funny they know more then you know. Typical Oriole fan who's happy with getting punched in the mouth.
    • I don’t like the wall. I think it’s affecting our hitters. I’ve mentioned before that I think it has totally warped Mountcastle into something he was never really meant to be. The guy came up as a pull-heavy HR hitter, and in his first season-plus (725 PAs), he puts up 38 HRs and a 116 wRC+. Since then, the wRC+ is down to 110, and his approach has totally changed, with his pull numbers plummeting (down from 39% in 2021 to less than 28% this year). He still hits the ball hard, but constantly underachieves his batted ball data — probably because he’s trying to avoid the pull field and hitting balls to the deepest parts of pretty much every other park. Will the same thing happen to Mayo? Maybe he has more pure power, but it’s always going to be a challenge for a RH slugger to survive with that wall. So much harder to do damage.   Beyond that, I think it’s also creating a serious risk of changing our LH hitters’ approaches too. These guys (Henderson, Holliday, Cowser, 2/3 of Adley) have come up with a reputation for being able to drive the ball to all fields. But how long does that continue when they just can’t hit it out to the opposite field? Our LH hitters had a combined 44 wRC+ at OPACY, and only one HR. They had the 3rd most balls hit to LF at home by LHHs, but the lowest wRC+ of any team on those balls (for the second straight year). The Royals, ironically enough, were the only team that was lower than a 70 wRC+ — that’s how much worse our lefties fared going oppo (at OPACY) than everyone else’s. By player: Gunnar Henderson: 112 wRC+ / .160 ISO (51 PAs) Adley Rutschman: 10 wRC+ / .026 ISO (38 PAs) Anthony Santander: 14 wRC+ / .095 ISO (43 PAs) Colton Cowser: 58 wRC+ / .057 ISO (36 PAs) Ryan O’Hearn: 47 wRC+ / .091 ISO (55 PAs) Cedric Mullins: 23 wRC+ / .100 ISO (41 PAs) Jackson Holliday: -72 wRC+ / .000 ISO (16 PAs)   On the road, they had a combined 126 wRC+ (with 9 HRs) going to left field, so it’s not like they’re bad at it. It’s just Death Valley out there in LF for them at OPACY.  How long will it be until these LH guys just start going full pull-happy? Essentially, the opposite of what’s happened with Mountcastle. When (a) your team’s philosophy is to focus on doing damage and (b) you can’t DO damage to the opposite field — the rational endpoint is just to try to pull everything. I don’t think that’s a good outcome. I think it makes them much worse hitters in the other 81 games, and I think it’s a terrible waste of a bunch of really talented hitters with all-field abilities.
    • Which core players beside Adley Rutschman struggled?
