It could just be that he was catching up with the agent. Cuza not only represents Ortiz and Vlad, but he also represented Pedro Martinez... who Duq was known to have acquired a couple of times. I think it was possibly just a catch-up and a fill-in on new guys possibly coming out of the DR. That's just my thought, though.

More seriously, I'd have some interest in a 2-year deal with Ortiz. He gives you a great OBP, along with good power. Yes, he is a candidate to slip, but his OBP is likely to be good in almost any scenario.

You would think his overall value to the team would increase because he wouldn't be in the field. Then again that is a ton of money for a DH. Now maybe if you could get a ghost runner or something for him.
