The actor's studio guy? What is wrong with him, besides being overenthusiastic about mediocre actors?
To begin with Actor's Studio actors have their head up their service entrabnce. Stanislavsky scrapped that BS 100 years ago, calling it hysteria, not acting. Anyone who epsouses it as a discipline is clueless. Lipton never ceases to remind people of his French award, Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. the same one they gave to Jerry Lewis. Fitting, because they both share the same level of self congatulating, pomposity, and both were pimps of a sort.

Yeah it can get a bit tiresome when people get caught up in their own self-importance...

Big fan of Lipton's, eh? Or are you a disciple of Lee Strasberg? I'm an actor, I hang out with actors, and have worked with a lot more, many of them quite famous. Mention Lipton to most of them and you get this...:rolleyestf::puke:

Wow you hang out with famous actors? How cool is that.

Thank you for making my original point crystal clear.

This has to be the best post and response that I have seen in some time.

It would be taken the cake if Gordo had added a :skeletor: at the end of the highlighted sentence.

I don't hang out with famous actors. I have worked with a number of them. What I am saying is that I am not a dilettante when it comes to Theatre, and acting theory in particular, and I think Lipton is a phoney. I am expressing what I consider to be an informed opinion, while you IMO, appear to be trolling.

    • People are being a bit ridiculous with the holier than thou takes criticizing a little humor. I am not saying what happened couldn’t cause a significant concussion, but it would be a bit of a fluke if it did. Mullins barely hit him with the bat and he had a helmet on. The fact that it was in the back of the head did make him more vulnerable, but this wasn’t the type of thing you see and think he was lucky to be alive.  Guys have probably hit their heads harder on the top of the dugout or on the fence making catches.  And note this comes from someone whose son has suffered severe concussions and who is well aware of the dangers associated with them. In short, people need to lighten up a bit on guys like Roy.  It was a little gallows humor.
    • Yeah, you read that wrong. LA2 is one of my favorite posters here and he knows it. No harm, no foul. If you aren't familiar with the game threads, it doesn't matter what the team is doing, people complain about it and people did make that same joke in the game thread long before Roy said it here. Game thread in summary - when the O's are not doing well, it's insufferable, when they are doing well, it's mildly less insufferable. There, that wasn't hard. I'd appreciate it if you didn't assume I'm throwing shade at people. I'll leave that up to you to do, you're really good at it.
    • Comp a. Like Gunnar, and beavers…
    • Wasn't Westburg a 2nd round draft pick?  It's a little early to judge last year's draft.
    • Before Elias.  They generally haven’t missed on a 1st round or 1st round comp pick with the position players.   I trust they’ll make a good decision at #22 and #32.   Their track record in rounds 2-4, particularly on college position players and specifically the last three drafts is suspect.
    • Anyone want to guess what it would take to get Crochet from the White Sox?  We could send SG over to ask politely and remind them of what they missed out on Ortiz.  I'm sure that wouldn't stir up a hornet's nest.
