I realize that a catcher doesn't completely control WP's or even PB's. Those teams also walked a ton of batters (2nd, 1st and 1st in most walks allowed in the AL) so it can be inferred that there were more errant pitches to try to block.

Not only walk rate but we have mostly high ball/FB pitchers which are easier to catch than a staffs that works more down in the zone. That said, I've agreed with you from the start that Wieters probably does help prevent WP's/PB's. I just don't care for your raw number analysis. DRS supposedly does measure WP/PB rate and complexity in its rating.

Soto out for 3 months. Another trade possibility. Or competition for available catchers.

Maybe they'll trade for Wieters and take him off our hands, the albatross and ingrate.

He sorta was in his first year or two.

2009: Rich Hill, Radhamez Liz, Baez, Berken, Bass, etc.

Try again Dan. Those guys either weren't that wild or didn't throw that many innings. Liz threw 1 and 1/3 inning in 2009. DCab threw 17 WP's in Hernandez's first year. Albers may have been the toughest pitcher Wieters caught in 2009.
