He looks like a pitcher! I really like all I have read up about Tillman and I think I like him more than Jones in this deal.

I hope he fulfills his potential.

Loewen, Spoone, Tillman, Arrieta, and Patton. I would really like that rotation.

He looks like a ptcher whose mother made on hell of a mess with the laundry. Ugh!!!!!!!!!!

Some Boston writer was just on ESPN saying how this is a great trade for the Mariners, but he just doesn't see how the Orioles could give up a true ace, when they have the money to keep him.

In fairness, this is a HUGE risk that shouldn't be ignored. I think successful people must take risks and this risk is strongly mitigated due to the perceived quality we're receiving in return. Still, if none of the 10 players we have received so far don't pan out our franchise will remain in the crapper.

Well he's obviously out of touch of the O's situation but he may be the only one.

There's a greater risk in keeping Bedard.

Ok, I'll play devil's advocate. It's not a greater on-field risk to keep Bedard if we just resigned him. Bedard wouldn't have turned down $120 million. That was an option and it's a risk going this other direction.

With that being said, I'm 100% on board with this trade. However, nobody should discount the huge risk we're taking in trading any of Tejada, Bedard or Roberts (if it happens). We would have jettisoned 3 of our best and most popular players for a bunch of ?????'s.

McPhail and *cough* Angelos deserve a ton of credit for having the cajones to take this risk.

Ya'll starting to beleive yet? Beleive Andy can pull off a decent tade? I would say yes to both of these. Do I beleive PA has turned over FULL control? I am starting to. Will beleive it a whole lot more when I see Roberts traded.

We need to cut Andy some slack about the dead weight though. In all honesty how many teams do you think are beating on our door for them?

Keep it rolling Andy!:D

We risk going from 4th place and 10 straight losing seasons to...what?

I remember he and his agent saying that they were testing free agency and he not wanting to be around for a rebuild. Top that off with the potential for getting injured, not performing as well as this past season and you could end up with a player that has no more trade value and/or will not get you anything in return when he leaves for free agency. Besides we weren't winning with him here and he served us better by getting us 5 players in return. Teams have been doing this for years (flipping their top players for prospects) and turning out competitive teams, the O's are just now catching on.

I shouldn't have to explain why Tejada was traded: declining, wrong side of 30 and steroids scandals to name a few. Bottom line is we are not winning with these guys and if we can get 15 players for 3 that could turn this team around I'm all for it. Somthing had to change because the status quo was more losing and 4th place seasons. WE may lose 100 games next season but we are rebuilding the right way now. I wouldn't call some of the guys that have played at the ML level ???'s either.
