Well I certainly have not seen all 19 of his abs this season for sure as the ones I saw he whiffed or looked awful. At any rate get back to me after a bigger sample size. If you think Flaherty is an everyday player because of his bat I have some ocean front property in Nebraska I'd like to sell you cheap!

How much? Flaherty would be a better overall RF than young, snider,Pearce and lough.

I think folks have a greatly exaggerated opinion of Flaherty's defensive prowess.

I think he's an above average second baseman defensively. Not that concerned about his numbers this year as he played numerous games hurt earlier in the season. If we're down to playing Flaherty in the OF, I think we're in deep trouble.

He's good at second but some folks think he is a plus glove everywhere but Catcher and CF.

The little bit I saw him in the outfield I wasn't impressed. Maybe if you give him a ST to get some reps in he would be fine, but I wouldn't want to do it during the season.

Yeah, no way. I think he has enough skills to be average at third base though. Maybe a bit better with dedicated time there. I think he'd be well below average at SS on a regular basis. Maybe he could be ok in the OF, but as starter/platoon player I don't see him hitting well enough to handle a position aside from second base. That's considering the apparent progress he's made offensively.

That would be Snider going. Lough at least fills a role. Pinch runner/defensive replacement. Anything with the bat is a bonus. Snider's hitting mechanics are horrible. I'm not an expert by far. But landing on your front foot like that is sapping all power potential.

Snider looks bad, no doubt. What is he doing specifically with front foot? Everybody lands on their front foot.

Delmon, on the other hand, appears to be hitting with no feet on the ground. Like hopping and then swinging. like a Looney Tunes character.

Unless you are joking or just wishing to yank my chain, that has to be one of the most preposterous, absurd, ludicrous, and absolutely ridiculous assertions I have read on this site I my 10 plus years of being on it! Pearce for example hit more home runs last season than Flaherty would, could or has in three seasons. Young is a proven accomplished major league hitter and Flaherty is just the opposite. Just think, would any team want Flaherty as a dh? Young would have no problem finding a spot as a dh on plenty of teams and has! Flaherty maybe is a better stick than Lough although not by a wide margin but lough is hands down a better defensive outfielder by his speed/range alone. And Snyder although not a better outfielder has better obp than Flaherty and a more selective hitter so I would give him the edge albeit not a big one.

Agreed. I think he's a great 2B, but I cringe when he has to play at SS. 3B...probably average.

I think they should reconfigure Snider's stance and/or swing. It seems like in the best case, even when all goes well, he's only able to rake the ball to shallow right-center. Even in hitter's counts.

    • I'm a big fan.  It doesn't mean I have sources in the clubhouse. Do we have any idea who her sources are?  Does she have any kind of track record of having reliable sources?
    • I don't know who this woman is and I don't do Twitter. And this is what I touched on in the other thread: I don't know what the best path forward is b/c I don't know exactly what the problem is. I don't think Hyde needs to go, but if this is true- and I have no idea if it is or not- he should be gone. The talk of veteran leaders brings questions.  What was insufficient of the leadership of Satandaner, Mullins, Burnes, and Kimbrel?
    • Sig for me is notably rigorous trying to combat this.    I feel pretty sure he had a say in crafting his very geeky title, a reflection of his personal brand. We'll see how it goes here if it becomes recommending Adam Frazier and Kyle Gibson as correct for the roster once again.
    • Again, I'm not sure what the point of contention is. They won 91 games and lost in the Wildcard round.  That puts them smack in the middle of what I forecast as their most likely outcome, though I did hope for more playoff success.  I'm not sure how that is proof I misevaluated anything. Further, again, lecturing me about the importance of depth, when I'm one of the biggest hoarders on this board, and you're one of the biggest opposite of that, is ironic to say the least.
    • Aaron Judge whined about it so I’m a fan.  The older I get, the more I think people just exist to look for confirmation biases. In all avenues of life. Paul Simon wrote “a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest.” I’m sure if we beat the Royals and advanced and Walltimore robbed three or four homers from the Royals, we’d be extolling its virtues and how great it is.    But that didn’t happen. If anything, there were a couple instances where, if anything, it worked against us.    So here we are.
    • I mean I wouldn’t be concerned about her opinions on which FA to sign or which players are best. But, she’s definitely a big fan and is just passing off info given to her. If it didn’t track into some other things that make sense, I wouldn’t pay it much mind. Of course, someone with an agenda could’ve just told her those things to spread rumors. Maybe Rick Dempsey haha.
    • Do you think any team is too stupid to account for home park dimensions when evaluating pitchers?
