Can_of_corn
Wow this thread is a bummer. I was so hopeful during the winter meetings that PA had turned over a new leaf and was willing to loosen the strings a bit. Guess he had a change of heart. If we're not going to spend, we need to tear it down, simple as that. Too late for that.

Can_of_corn
Fans did not seem happy. Right now the team is at a crossroads and unfortunately the traffic is oncoming.
ChicagoTerp
If these comments really do reflect the front office's new plan, and we end up with Span or Alvarez and that's it, how long until AJ raises a stink and demands a trade? Couldn't blame him if he did.
NATTYBO's
No matter what we hear I believe the Wieters QO is killing us on payroll. No sense signing him for a year if we are going to wallow around .
Es4M11
Too late for that. I assume you are referring to the money spent on O'Day? That contract could be traded this year at the deadline for a legit prospect, so long as O'Day keeps up with his recent standard of play.

Not only O'Day but that would be an example. As for trading him, word is he has at least some trade protection in the deal.

I read he can veto a trade to as many as 7 teams. Could be wrong on the details, but being able to veto 7 teams doesn't make it impossible. What other examples are you referring to? The process should already be underway.

turtlebowl
Oh. It was funny. Buck delivers his lines well. I love his sense of humor. I am just saying the context isn't real funny.
Rockford
Duq says opt outs don't work for Os. Of course no one bothers to ask why. Opt outs don't work for the O's, 16-year-old Latin American ballplayers don't work for the O's ... Signed, muskets, cannon balls and buggy whips.
