Seriously, we can't plate one run in 5 innings against 5 mostly mediocre relievers?

The offense is putrid right now. When you have a struggling Shoemaker (over 8 ERA prior to the O's facing him), a struggling Weaver (ERA over 5) and Fister (ERA over 4) coupled with some middling relievers and guys like Feldman all manhandling the O's...well it says all you need to hear.

Story of today? Jones, Davis and Trumbo all went 1-16 with something like 9 strikeouts and 1 walk. Not a single RBI between them. 7 LOB.

The only runs scored (once again) was via the homer.

This offense is very one dimensional. If they're not hitting homers, they're most likely not going to score.

I'm about ready for a permanent Janish/Machado left-side of the infield. Of course, that is, until Hardy gets back.

Janish's bat seems much more lively than flaherty because at least he makes contact.

Can Christian walker or Mancini play third?

Or move Davis to third for a month and bring up walker or Mancini.

Also, Kim needs to play. He has a better batting eye than pretty much anyone not named manny or Matt right now.

And Buck's not happy about the 19 K's. We need a better approach per Buck.

I just watched the post game with Buck. He was not happy, put a lot of blame squarely on our hitters. Hope they respond starting tonight.

Last three games all the runs were scored on homers. That is the Orioles. Works sometimes and sometimes it does not. But seems like the hitters are now starting to see if they can hit homers on every pitch.Got to go with the pitch and hit it to the opposite field. Slow tossers and you are trying to pound an outside slow pitch is not going to work.

The team is 4th in BA and OBP, so not as one dimensional as portrayed here. I don't expect them never to have slumps. On balance, they're about where I hoped they'd be. By the way, only 8th in strikeouts despite last night's monstrosity.

14th in the majors. But have played two or three fewer games then most teams. The Orioles are streaky. Last seven days not a good trend. If you look at the last 30 days only four players are hitting over. 257. Kim. Wieters, Reimold and Schoop.

I agree overall but Buck last night looked ticked off. Many times he shields his players but not last night. He hasn't liked our approach lately, that is very evident.

Your figures are for 6 games not for 30, but I'll bet you are right overall. In the 6, Machado has twice as many strikeouts as hits. He seems to have decided to join the all or nothing crowd. I really think there is something wrong with team thinking (Have Trumbo and Machado decided to have a home run contest?), but I'm not sure where to lay the blame. Wieters and Schoop are the only regulars who seem capable recently. I think it might be time for a wake-up call. Change the lineup order for a day? Sit Machado and play Flaherty and Janish? Move Machado back to third? His slump from a .350+ average started about two days after he took over short.

Truth be told, we didn't lose last night's game to the Houston bullpen. We lost last night's game by leaving the bases loaded without scoring... twice.

There you have it. If the Orioles get a weak bloop that drives in two runs in one of the situations, they win.....and this thread doesn't exist.
