Donnie Hart looks to be a really good LOOGY. He's proven that. He has options. He's valuable. With our crappy SP we didn't have the luxury of carrying him in that role this season and we might not next year.

I think that Hart pitched well today, and has been pitching well overall in this still very-young season.

He did give up the RBI-single of an inherited runner, but the Orioles had two chances to avert that. On the previous play, Jonathan Schoop had the Blue Jays' runner dead to rights on a potential double play after a long fly ball to the outfielder, but Schoop instead chose to eat the ball. And on the RBI-single, the throw to home plate had the runner beat, but Castillo couldn't hold onto the ball.

 

Overall he has 0 Walks, 6 Strikeouts, and he appears to be up for the challenge of getting multiple outs in his individual outings (as opposed to being just a LOOGY.)

I like that Buck isn't falling into the trap of believing Hart has to be a LOOGY.

Man, do I like this guy. In over 30 innings of work at the MLB level, he has given up one run and has a WHIP of 0.99. 

Such a welcome change of pace from the peptic ulcers brought on by Brian Matusz.

He did just what you're supposed to do late in a game with a big lead ........ throw strikes, and don't give them any free passes. Make them earn anything that they get.

Donnie has not looked good, at all. He's failed to get righties and lefties out at a similar clip.

I'd hoped that, with what we saw last year and what we saw in Spring Training, we had a very solid LOOGY on our hands. Right now... not so much.
