Offense not pitching will doom this team

The only answer I can think of is that Davis can't count! He swings at balls then takes a strike for strike three.

We should just bite the bullet and hire Bonds to work with CD in ST and maybe for the year. Davis needs to learn to get his pitch in his zone. The problem with Davis is that he has massive holes in his swing. Especially low and inside, which is usually where lefties love it.

I really think Bonds could do wonders for him. With all the money we're invested in him it would be worth it and the possible distraction and PR fallout.

You got a lot of crap for this post, but it proved to be prescient. We didn't get a bit off that lousy bullpen.

Taking similar heat regarding the Ravens right now too. God know I wish I was wrong but minus the orange glasses, this ending was as clear as day.

As I stated in another thread, I wonder if it is time to start looking to unload AJ. I love the guy to death, but his plate approach has been like a cancer that has spread to the entire team. And the response from the manager has been pretty ho-hum about it, too.

Unless they get extraordinary pitching, they won't be near .500. Cleveland strung together 6 straight hits yesterday and did something similar today. You'll never see that from this team. If it's not a HR, chances are we're not scoring..that's the truth!

The Orioles' poor approach to hitting was brought up over 5 years ago and I was criticized for it then too. Guess who's the common link between 2011 and 2016... Adam Jones

Looks like my cue. Exit stage:

    • People are being a bit ridiculous with the holier than thou takes criticizing a little humor. I am not saying what happened couldn’t cause a significant concussion, but it would be a bit of a fluke if it did. Mullins barely hit him with the bat and he had a helmet on. The fact that it was in the back of the head did make him more vulnerable, but this wasn’t the type of thing you see and think he was lucky to be alive.  Guys have probably hit their heads harder on the top of the dugout or on the fence making catches.  And note this comes from someone whose son has suffered severe concussions and who is well aware of the dangers associated with them. In short, people need to lighten up a bit on guys like Roy.  It was a little gallows humor.
    • Yeah, you read that wrong. LA2 is one of my favorite posters here and he knows it. No harm, no foul. If you aren't familiar with the game threads, it doesn't matter what the team is doing, people complain about it and people did make that same joke in the game thread long before Roy said it here. Game thread in summary - when the O's are not doing well, it's insufferable, when they are doing well, it's mildly less insufferable. There, that wasn't hard. I'd appreciate it if you didn't assume I'm throwing shade at people. I'll leave that up to you to do, you're really good at it.
    • Comp a. Like Gunnar, and beavers…
    • Wasn't Westburg a 2nd round draft pick?  It's a little early to judge last year's draft.
    • Before Elias.  They generally haven’t missed on a 1st round or 1st round comp pick with the position players.   I trust they’ll make a good decision at #22 and #32.   Their track record in rounds 2-4, particularly on college position players and specifically the last three drafts is suspect.
    • Anyone want to guess what it would take to get Crochet from the White Sox?  We could send SG over to ask politely and remind them of what they missed out on Ortiz.  I'm sure that wouldn't stir up a hornet's nest.
