pastorfan
MVP for part of the season. Certainly not lately.Britton is my MVP. Manny is certainly the best position player. But Britton is the MVP. Dude has blown nothing. Manny's numbers are good, but how many clutch hits has he had?

Manny's numbers are good, but how many clutch hits has he had? Britton has faced 237 batters this year. Manny had that many plate appearances by June 3rd, and he plays defense almost every inning of every game on top of that.
Ripken
He's turning into a hacker. If he's going to remain an Oriole, and the face of the team going forward, he has to mature as a hitter. We've seen him do it but he has to keep doing it.
howboutthoseos
For me it is Britton. Even one or two blown saves and thing is over.
sportsfan8703
Never understood why this comes out while there is still a week+ left in the season. I could see during the losing seasons that it was something to grab a headline, but now it just seems ill timed. Congrats to Manny. But what if Britton thinks he deserves it? What if Britton saves 5 more games this season? What if Trumbo goes on a HR tear and carries us into the playoffs? The most valuable games are still to be played. Stuff can happen. atomic
For me it is Britton. Even one or two blown saves and thing is over. Yeah Britton is having a historically great season. Might be the best season by a reliever ever. Manny isnt even the best Third Baseman in the American League this season.

Manny isnt even the best Third Baseman in the American League this season. It's difficult to consider a guy who won't top 70 innings to be having the best season by a reliever ever. In 1977 Goose Gossage threw 134 innings to a 1.62 while striking out batters at almost twice the league rate. You think Britton was twice as good per inning? In 1974 Mike Marshall faced 857 batters in relief, while Britton had thrown 980 pitches coming into today. By rWAR Britton is currently 88th among all time relief seasons, by fWAR he's 243rd. DrungoHazewood
wpa?.. Before today he was 14th at 5.77, a little less than three wins off Willie Hernandez' 1984 mark. Edit: He does have 40 shutdowns and only one meltdown. The 2nd most shutdowns with one or fewer meltdowns is 24 by Greg Holland in 2011.

Goosage had 9 losses that season and only 26 saves. I don't think that season compares with Brittons. You could probably find a better argument season than that one.
