Not burning a Povich option. Which in the grand scheme of things, really means nothing. At least not enough to justify pitching Teheran in an MLB game before the boys in the lab have had their go with him.
Mateo will not be traded. Even if he is supplanted as a starter he brings too much defense and versatility in the field. Plus, the biggest component of his game, the speed element.
I don't see any circumstance where the Jays fold and sell this early, but the thought of beating a division rival until they give you their lunch money to stop is pretty funny to me today for some reason.
I'm thinking the O's lay a turd in at least one of the next 4-5 seasons. Perhaps a tangential value analysis for guys like Adley, Gunnar and GRod might be how well the O's can re-stock the farm system by trading them as opposed to extending them.
I could be overstating this, but in Elias' first few draft years, it seemed like he hoarded SS and CF in the draft, figuring they were such good athletes they could move anywhere on the field. But as Tony pointed out, Elias seemed to avoid pitching picks. If that were the case in one draft I would understand, but it was multiple drafts. It shouldn't shock anyone that our pitching depth in the minors is shallow.
