They wIll not sell.Hunter was interviewing Buck after the game. Hunter was saying what great at bats that Schoop,Jones and Mancini had in the ninth. Buck even said thanks for being positive but we had many bad  at bats and did not play well.Funny that even the manager knows what a shill Hunter is.Between all the MASN shills (Hunter,Bordick and Roch) they will never sell. They got these guys to hype up the team. Also don't tell me Roch is not a commentator. In his posts he has criticized the Nationals,Yankees,Red Sox,Astros and Blue Jays.Let me know when he criticizes the Orioles.

I hope we drop low enough that we don't end up trading legitimate prospects for an overpaid, over-the-hill starter for a "one more time" run. Jones, Hardy and O'Day are in decline. The window has closed. Time to start over.

What kind of fan hopes they lose?????:S

I agree that the Orioles will not be sellers.

The company line will focus on the return of Britton, Davis, and Hardy if the team continues it's downward spiral.

Very simple.  Should this team be buyers or sellers come the trade deadline?  I want to see the poll numbers for us site members.

Heck we know somebody reads this board.

The real question isn't whether this team should be buyers or sellers at the deadline.

The real question is WILL they be sellers at the deadline.

There are enough people on this board, like myself, who know they should sell.

I'm hoping they sell but have no expectations.

I think a soft sell makes the most sense. For the O's to blow it up and rebuild effectively, they would need Machado and Britton at maximum value.

There are a few assets though that could bring a mid-level prospect each.

1. Seth Smith. In 2015, the price for Gerardo Parra was Zach Davies. Smith's a veteran hitter who could help a contender. Mancini takes over full time in RF when Davis returns. Sign Bourn as a backup.

2. Welington Castillo. It's likely that some team will lose a catcher to industry at some point this month. Let's hope that team is not the Orioles. Castillo's having a decent enough year to fetch something. Give catcher to Caleb Joseph and Francisco Pena if Sisco needs more time.

3. Darren O'Day. A couple of hiccups aside, O'Day still has a good WHIP and strikeout rate. See what the Twins or Nats would be willing to give up for bullpen help.

None of these guys will bring top prospects, but possibly MiLers who could help.

I'd like a soft sell as well but think we have time. See how the team does in the 1st two weeks after the All-Star break before deciding.

But here is why I'm posting. For everyone who thinks trading Manny would net a lot, please tell me why?

First of all, what World Series contending teams need a SS or 3B badly?

In terms of SS, Houston, LAD, Boston, Arizona, Milwaukee and washington all have SS in the top 10 in the league in batting. So who the hell needs one desperately?

In terms of 3b, there does seem to be slightly need but nothing major. Which expected World Series contender needs a 3b badly? Certainly not the Dodgers, Arizona, Milwaukee or Washington.

Boston might be the only team.

And any team trading with us is going to know that Manny has the third worse OPS of all #bs in the league.

So for anyone who wants to ship Manny. Please tell me which team is going to trade the farm for him?

As much as I don't believe in this team, I still go with El Gordo at this point.   We need to see where we are in 15 games.   If we could somehow go 10-5 over that span, and keep within a game or two of the wildcard, there's no way PA and DD will sell.

I hope we don't do something stupid like trade someone like Hays, Mountcastle, or Mullins, though.   I suppose one of those guys could be available if we could acquire pitching that will be around for more than this season.

I don't see what the attitude of the announcers or team-paid bloggers has to do with the team's decisions whether to reshape this team to some degree.      No matter what Hunter, Bordick or Roch say or do, fans won't be very interested in a losing team.    So, management has to decide the best way to get back to winning, whether that's buying now to try to eke a few more wins out of this team, standing pat and hoping the team plays better, or doing some selling to try to win more in the future.    Nothing the announcers or bloggers say will change the reality of those choices.

    • Could it be that they allowed the Gnats to reside within 30 minutes of their home. Effectively cutting their market in half?
    • Got my all-time low rarity score on today's game - 6.
    • 41 freaking years and here's this guy with the name pickles telling me I should be happy with 91 wins and getting owned in the playoffs again. 😂 😂 I saw a team that looked terrible the second half and probably didn't even deserve that spot the way they were playing .
    • Lol. Here's the funny they know more then you know. Typical Oriole fan who's happy with getting punched in the mouth.
    • I don’t like the wall. I think it’s affecting our hitters. I’ve mentioned before that I think it has totally warped Mountcastle into something he was never really meant to be. The guy came up as a pull-heavy HR hitter, and in his first season-plus (725 PAs), he puts up 38 HRs and a 116 wRC+. Since then, the wRC+ is down to 110, and his approach has totally changed, with his pull numbers plummeting (down from 39% in 2021 to less than 28% this year). He still hits the ball hard, but constantly underachieves his batted ball data — probably because he’s trying to avoid the pull field and hitting balls to the deepest parts of pretty much every other park. Will the same thing happen to Mayo? Maybe he has more pure power, but it’s always going to be a challenge for a RH slugger to survive with that wall. So much harder to do damage.   Beyond that, I think it’s also creating a serious risk of changing our LH hitters’ approaches too. These guys (Henderson, Holliday, Cowser, 2/3 of Adley) have come up with a reputation for being able to drive the ball to all fields. But how long does that continue when they just can’t hit it out to the opposite field? Our LH hitters had a combined 44 wRC+ at OPACY, and only one HR. They had the 3rd most balls hit to LF at home by LHHs, but the lowest wRC+ of any team on those balls (for the second straight year). The Royals, ironically enough, were the only team that was lower than a 70 wRC+ — that’s how much worse our lefties fared going oppo (at OPACY) than everyone else’s. By player: Gunnar Henderson: 112 wRC+ / .160 ISO (51 PAs) Adley Rutschman: 10 wRC+ / .026 ISO (38 PAs) Anthony Santander: 14 wRC+ / .095 ISO (43 PAs) Colton Cowser: 58 wRC+ / .057 ISO (36 PAs) Ryan O’Hearn: 47 wRC+ / .091 ISO (55 PAs) Cedric Mullins: 23 wRC+ / .100 ISO (41 PAs) Jackson Holliday: -72 wRC+ / .000 ISO (16 PAs)   On the road, they had a combined 126 wRC+ (with 9 HRs) going to left field, so it’s not like they’re bad at it. It’s just Death Valley out there in LF for them at OPACY.  How long will it be until these LH guys just start going full pull-happy? Essentially, the opposite of what’s happened with Mountcastle. When (a) your team’s philosophy is to focus on doing damage and (b) you can’t DO damage to the opposite field — the rational endpoint is just to try to pull everything. I don’t think that’s a good outcome. I think it makes them much worse hitters in the other 81 games, and I think it’s a terrible waste of a bunch of really talented hitters with all-field abilities.
    • Which core players beside Adley Rutschman struggled?
